5 Things You Can Do Today to Help the World Get Better

It appears we've finally reached the end of what I'd consider to be the strangest times the world has faced since I've been alive. COVID-19 was scary for many, boring for most, and caused a lot of damage to humanity and the world. I'm very thankful that we're coming out of this season. Now comes the question we all need to ask ourselves. How can we help the world get better?I know that much of my recent content has been harsh/direct. I want to remind each of you that God loves you. God loves you, unconditionally. God loves us so much that He has allowed us the free gift of salvation. Also, those of us who are saved and choose to believe become God's handiwork. This is a fancy way to say that God trusts us to take care of the world.

Listen to the Good Christian Podcast episode about this post:"How to Help the World Get Better"

Ephesians 2:10 clearly states that we (Christians) are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. This means that God knew about COVID-19. Thanks to prayer, fasting, and Christians stepping up, I believe that God has gotten us through the pandemic.

But wait, there's more that God has asked us to do!

What God works are we going to do to help the world get better? Don't worry, I'm not going to start calling everyone out. Instead, I want to share 5 things people can do to help the world get better. These are very practical, and you can begin immediately.

5 things you can do today to help the world get better:

Like all content on DailyPS, this post is written from a Christian perspective. However, anyone can do these 5 things I'm going to mention, Christian or not.

#5. Pray for people.

I love prayer. I believe it's powerful and effective. As someone who has prayed for people and literally watched bones move back into place after being broken, or supernatural emotional healings take place, I know that prayer moves mountains. At the same time, prayer isn't enough. You have to take action. So, if you like this point because it seems easy, think again. Praying for people doesn't work by itself, you also have to do at least one of the other points that I mention.

#4. Spread positivity on the internet, and get out of your comfort zone.

We're all consuming most social media than ever before. Like a lot more (30% more). Some of us are even engaging more. Unfortunately, most of it is negative. I encourage you not just to stop engaging with it but also to stop looking at it all together. Start sharing and promoting positivity. Follow our lead here at DailyPS! #3. Reach out to someone, text them, call them, better yet, do a video chat with them.

I'm not talking about your best friend. I'm talking about that family member that you haven't spoken to in years or that person that you burnt a bridge with years ago. You're probably asking, "Sounds great, Alex. But what on earth would I say?" You've got the perfect ice breaker question right now! "Hey, I just wanted to call and make sure that you're still alive and healthy!" (More on this topic)

#2. Invest financially in helping feed someone.

You may have just gotten some cash from your uncle Sam. Give it away. As I'm writing this post, my wife and I just received our stimulus check - We plan to give it all away, even though we're currently saving for a down payment on a house. Now, some people reading this will need the money, and that's fine. But, I still encourage you to give what you can away. Help someone else who has an even more drastic need than you do.

#1. Serve someone in need, yes, even break quarantine early to make this happen.

The best thing we can do right now is to, in person, spread our faith to the world. People are freaking out more than ever - I'd probably be in the same boat if I didn't have the relationship with God that I have. It's time for us to stop being scared of people. Have faith that God is going to keep you healthy, and don't be stupid and hang out with people who are clearly infected. Get around people. In-person community is now needed more than it has ever been before. It's our job to make this right! In closing, I want to share a commonly used Bible verse and Christian saying. People often reference Christians being the hands and feet of Jesus. There isn't a bible verse that says we're the hands and feet of Christ. Instead, that has been pulled from 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. (Be sure to read it all here)

"We are the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit lives within us, and through this empowerment, we are called to do good works to help the world find Jesus."

As Christians, we are called to be God's light and "workers on the ground" for the world. It's our job to get out there and shine that light as bright as we can. This is how we help the world get better!
