A Christian Acronym to Redefine the Word Rejection

Rejection... I don't think there is one person on this entire planet that hasn't had pain in that word. We all experience it at one time or another... throughout our entire lives. Rejection comes in many shapes and sizes. You didn't get into the college you had hoped for, or you didn't get that job with the company that seemed so perfect for you. It can come in the form of a child feeling rejected by a parent when they leave them or rejection in the form of a husband or wife breaking the sanctification of marriage and trust. Rejection is caused mainly by those things or people we put our hearts into. Rejection is a nasty thing, and no matter how "small" it may seem to others, it still hurts. Why?

First, let's look at the definition of rejection: to discard as defective or useless; throw away; to refuse to accept, submit to, believe, or make use of. Ouch! Just looking at that definition explains why it hurts.Every single part of that definition is against what God has planned for us and wants for us. We are a people created in the image of God; to love and be loved, to accept and be accepted. To live with purpose! It's wired in our hearts and our spiritual nature. Why do you think people respond better when shown love and acceptance? God doesn't see us as defective or useless!

Even with our sinful nature, He adores us!

He sent His only Son (to be rejected by man) and die on the cross so He could see us perfected in Christ Jesus. When He could've just "thrown" us away and start over... He didn't! Because His love for us is far greater than we could ever even begin to imagine, and he finds each and every one of us useful in His plan!

"As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious." - 1 Peter 2:4

The best part is that Jesus Christ knows how rejection feels. He was rejected by the very same men and women He had healed, blessed, and died for. He experienced the same pain from rejection as we have, and He still does to this day as His own creations reject Him by not accepting Him. Yet, He still loves us and died for us...knowing that generations of the world would continue to reject Him.Rejection is a tool used by the enemy to knock us down. To look through eyes filled with distress and not live the abundant life planned for us. God, on the other hand, will never reject those who live for Him and love Him. So let's give our hearts to Christ and Redefine Rejection! Rejection is a tool used by the enemy to knock us down.

Here is my Christian acronym to redefine the word rejection:

R - Reject the rejection!

It does not define you! When you feel that pain, give it to Jesus... God is on your side and wants you to be free from the things that bind you! Romans 8:31 says, "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

E - Evade the lies of the enemy!

You know those feelings of inadequacy and failure when you are rejected by something... Put your focus on Christ's love and turn away from them! John 10:10 says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."

J - Joyfully seek the Blessing in disguise!

God is Good! He can take any situation and use it for our benefit. Think of how He used this situation to help you grow or how it potentially could have stopped the pain you would have experienced had it gone differently. Psalm 34:17-20 says, "When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken."

E - Exude positivity!

We have a tendency to let things tear us down, and sometimes we even aid the negativity. Stay positive! God can use even the hardest, most painful of moments as an opportunity. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A joyful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

C - Conquer those natural feelings of rejection by turning to the supernatural healing of Christ!

He didn't just die for our salvation, but to heal us too! 1 Peter 2:24 says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds, you have been healed.”

T - Trust in the Lord!

It's that easy... Put your trust in Him. You'll experience freedom far greater than you've ever known to exist. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

I - Increase your time in the Word of God so that your mind can be shielded by His love!

The best way to get rid of the lies of the enemy and get the abundant life and healing God has intended for you is to get to know Him. What better way than to read about Him in the Bible. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

O - Overuse your ability to pray!

Jesus prayed... for everything. You can never pray too much. Jesus wants us to bring our pain to Him. He wants to take it and give you not only what you need but also what you want. Mark 11:24 says, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

N - Nourish your spirit!

Just like our bodies in flesh need nourishment, so does our spirit. Take joy in Christ! Bring Him all of your requests! Read your Bible and Nourish your spirit. Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."So the next time you find yourself faced with rejection, remember that YOU are far greater than anything defined in this world, and YOU have the ability to redefine rejection!
