"Are you still watching?" - Netflix

This past week my wife and I finally got Netflix; a little late I know, everyone already has it. Personally, I'm a little bit scared of it because it has just about anything you could want to watch on it. I discovered that after an episode of a TV show ends, it beings a count down until starting the next episode. You don't even have to move or push a button! After a couple episodes finish playing through, Netflix asks you a very deep and thought provoking question, "Are you still watching?"It seems like a simple harmless question, I agree. However, for some reason when I saw this question, I immediately related it to my relationship with God. Do you ever feel like God has asked you this same question? I know I have. In Matthew 25:13 the Bible tells us to keep watch, because we do not know the day or the hour when Jesus will return to earth. As followers of Christ, we are called to be ready and to keep watch. God has given each of us a unique purpose to complete with our time on earth; if we do not have our guard up and are not focused on completing it, what are we doing? Personally, I have been through seasons in my life where I know God is asking me this very question, "Are you still watching?", because I decide to go through the motions in my walk with Him or I become busy pursuing my own selfish ambition instead of His calling.

Our lives must always lead us to a place where we are focused on following Jesus and watching for His return.

In the world today, it is easy to take our focus off keeping watch for Jesus, there are so many things in this culture (Like Netflix) that can keep us busy and steal our focus. If we follow the trends and pattern that the world has for our lives, we will surely let our guard down and no longer be watching for Jesus' return or following the calling He has on our lives. My goal in writing this post is not to scare anyone; my goal is to get us all thinking about the importance of our walk with God. Do our daily lives really portray that we are watching for Jesus? If Jesus was to return right now, would He be happy with where you are in life? God has given each of us a purpose to complete, my goal in writing this post is to get us all thinking about that purpose and focused on it while watching for Jesus' return.

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. - Matthew 24:42-44

In conclusion, I want us all to ask ourselves one simple, yet powerful question in regards to our relationship with God...

Are you still watching?
