What is Your "Go-To" Comfort Giver?

So I have been sick on and off for the last 5 days or so.  It's not one of my favorite things in the world, but its given me plenty of time to rest my body and recover.  When I get sick I do a lot of the same things to make me feel better.  If its a stomach sickness, I get Canada Dry Ginger Ale put it in a cup full of ice next to my bed with a straw in it.  Once I start to recover, and can eat something, I make "Egg on Toast" which is pretty much just a poached egg on a piece of toast.  If its an allergy/sinus issue I have plenty of medication for it, but I drink a ton of orange juice and carry around my pillow and sit on my couch where I know I am not allergic to anything touching me! When I was a kid, I used to have a hypo-allergenic stuffed animal.  It was a dog, his name was blue, and I carried that thing everywhere, because I knew it was safe and wouldn't make me any worse than I was.All these things stem from something that I grew up knowing, or from seeing results of how they made me feel better in a time of sickness.  Do you have things you consider your "go-to" when you need something to make you feel better?  Maybe its a favorite food/drink, a place in your house, a blanket (my little sister carried around her "ba-ba" until my parents forced her to stop).Mark 4:36-40 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”  He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.  He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Now most of the time you will hear this story talked about from the standpoint of the disciples lack of faith.  However I would like to suggest that while they should have had more faith, yes, they did the right thing by turning to Jesus when they needed help.  They were worried, scared, probably sick to their stomach due to the storm, and they turned to Jesus for comfort and help. What storm, sickness or fear are you facing right now that you need comfort for?  Jesus has proven, on the boat, and over and over again that he can calm whatever is "drowning" you.  My God is bigger than anything on this earth...I mean He did create it!I encourage you today to make your first call be to Jesus.  Don't count of earthly things to give hopefully give you comfort, count on the ONE person that has proven 100% effectiveness in that category...Jesus.  Turn to His Word (Bible) and let Him speak to you, find a place alone and quiet and spend time in prayer just talking with Him.  Even Jesus did that by spending time in prayer when He needed comfort (Matthew 26:36-46) prior to His crucifixion. God is the one who provides eternal comfort, don't kid yourself thinking that you can find it somewhere else. Start there first!
