God Spoke to Me While I Was Driving [What He Said Changed My Life]

A few weeks ago, I was driving to work at around 6:00 AM. It was still dark outside; and very cold. I wasn’t listening to music or anything; it was a completely silent drive to work. This wasn't out of the norm for me. On my commute I visualize my upcoming day in the office. But this was different; because God spoke to me while I was driving this day.It was different than how God normally speaks to me, because it was something that I said. That's right, to my surprise, out of nowhere, I opened my mouth and the following words came out:

“God, thank you for whatever comes next.”

The words I said shocked me as I spoke them. Why? It's not what I'd expect to say; and there is a reason for that. Something bad was about to happen at my job. It would affect one of the divisions that I am responsible for in the company. Why would I say, “thank you” for what happens next during a time like this?In this moment I realized a humbling reality. God was speaking to me through me. (Wrap your head around that one!) Revelation hit me like a brick.

My entire mood and outlook changes in this very instance.

Why did my mood change? Why was I now thankful? I’m thankful because God doesn’t allow things to happen that I’m not equipped for. When I’m walking with God and in tune with His Spirit, the things that happen to me are part of my life’s journey.

This sounds crazy right? Perhaps it's not...

  • What if I need this pain to grow to complete a future part of the journey in my life.
  • What if I need to go through this because my trial will lead someone to Christ?
  • What if I need to learn to trust God more in my life?
  • WHAT IF...

This list could go on forever. But the point is this. As someone who walks with God, my job is to trust that what He leads me through is part of a bigger plan. What he is allowing to happen in my life will be important later today, tomorrow, next week, next month or next year...So today I say this: thank God for whatever comes next in your life. No matter how bad it may look; trust that He is leading you through this for a specific reason.

I don’t know what you’re walking through in life right now. But I do know that God loves you and has a plan for this journey you’re on. Thank Him for it! Even if it feels impossible. He has your back and your future best interest in mind.

Although God spoke to me on my drive to work, this revelation is also for you. I encourage you to do the same as I now do: “God, thank you for whatever comes next.”
