Good And Evil

In this iteration of the “Letters From God” series, I am going to write on something deeply personal to me. For two and a half years, I had the privilege of serving the children of Jacksonville’s most dangerous project apartment complex. These children taught me a great many lessons, I can only hope that I had as much of an impact on them as they made on me. In a sense, I will be seeking God’s response to my own question, and then writing about it. Enjoy!“God, why is there evil in this world? Why do some people experience such terrible things? Lord, how can you justify the things I saw? How is it possible that you can allow a man to abuse and neglect a child?” My son,Before I answer your questions, I want you to know that I love you. It is with great sorrow that I watch the evil that goes on within your world. It is not My will, this darkness that you have seen. It is not of me, it is not from me, and I am in no part of it.To answer your question about evil, we have to look at the origins of your creation. I created your species, my son, to be a warm and passionate species – a species with free will that it might choose to love and worship Me. Had I neglected to give you free will, you would simply be like robots – programmed to make the same responses to the same promptings. It was only when Adam and Eve chose to eat the apple and chose to gain knowledge of evil, that things went wrong.Right now, a battle wages within your species between good and evil. Good and evil exists within each of you – and I have given you free will to choose which of the two you will embrace. As to this world, and how it relates to you, you must make a choice in how you deal with evil. You can take the passive approach and do nothing – if you choose this approach you might as well be the one doing the evil. Your second option is to stand up and fight against evil – this is the preferable choice.I have empowered my people, I have given them my spirit, and I have given them my boldness – so that they can stand up to evil, and when necessary combat against it. I have never intended for you to be a passive being, I have intended you to take a more aggressive approach. I want you with my spirit within you, to spread my love and gospel, and to spiritually combat evil. When you step up and take the initiative to call on me to help, I will come through. I will save my children. I will bring them through this. I will prosper them.My son, the conclusion is that I have called on my people to be active in their ways, I have called them to go out into the world, into some dark places. When my people go into the dark, they bring the light with them. With enough light, even the darkest of nights can be illuminated.
