Lessons from a Warthog - Don't Worry

Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase...Hakuna Matata!Ain't no passing craze...It means no worries for the rest of your days...It's our problem-free philosophy! If you have watched the Lion King ever in your life, then you are probably singing the rest of this song in your head right now.  Never would I have thought watching the Lion King as a kid that these words would have such a Godly and spiritual meaning.God is pretty clear throughout His Word that we should live a life like Timon & Pumbaa...Worry-Free! Instead of re-watching the movie or me telling you this, I felt it was better to hear from the Word of God directly. Below is God's version of Hakuna Matata...1 Peter 5:7"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."Psalm 55:22"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."Philippians 4:6-7"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."Matthew 6:25-34"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."This is probably one of the hardest things we can do as humans.  It is in our nature to worry about even the smallest things.  We don't like to give things up, and we always think that we can do it on our own.But think about Timon & Pumbaa.  These were two friends that had it figured out, and even though their new friend was a LION and someone who could easily devour them at any moment, they didn't worry at all.  It was such a part of their life, and it made them into two of the most beloved characters in the movie, and they became extremely close to the Lion in their lives (Simba).God calls us to live like that unusual meerkat and warthog duo.  Our lives will undoubtedly be better and we will be able to enjoy the time we have with the Lion in our lives (KING JESUS)!Try it out today...HAKUNA MATATA!
