Define the line in your life.
In the world we live in today I have noticed that there are a lot of "gray areas" when considering right from wrong. We have turned into a society that wants to accept everything and does not want to upset anyone. Many believers have allowed this gray area to grow in their lives and in the lives of believers around them. The problem with this is that we pull further away from God and are no longer holding each other accountable, because we are no longer sure of what is right or wrong in our lives. The bible says that God's word is the same yesterday, today and forever. We need to stop conforming to this world and allowing it to define right from wrong for us. We need to start seeking God's word in this area. We need to decide to line up our actions with the word of God. Stop comparing ourselves to the world, start comparing to the word. Don’t leave a gray area in between what is right or wrong! Today I want to share 4 points to creating a line in your life for what is right and wrong:1. Listen to God's voice. One thing that a lot of believers don't realize is that God is speaking all the time. Often we are so busy presenting our requests to God in prayer that we forget to stop and sit quietly to listen to Him speak.2. Get a bigger picture of who God is.How do you approach God in prayer? Often we get very comfortable with God because He is always in our lives, which is both a good and bad thing. God is our father and friend, but He is also our king and our judge. If you had the opportunity to meet the president, would you just walk in and start talking about yourself, or would you respectfully and humbly listen first?3. Following Jesus should have a cost.I heard an amazing message last year titled 'Can I bring my cross?'. Jesus' request to His followers is simply to pick up your cross and follow Him. When you are making decisions in your life, ask yourself, "Can I bring my cross?" "Can I bring my cross in that movie?" "Can I go to this place with my cross?" "Can I hang out with these people with my cross?" Often you'll find that the answer is no. This makes some people uncomfortable; however, following Jesus has a cost in this life but a reward in eternity. Carrying a cross is a symbol of suffering. When was the last time you had to say no to something because of your cross? If you cannot think of anything, it may be time to make sure that you are truly following Jesus.4. Define the line. When you are really starting excel in your relationship with God, that is the time to decide what is right and wrong for your life. Don't wait until after you have crossed a line to decide if it was right or wrong. You must decide in advance to do the right thing. Naturally your flesh is going to pick the sinful route. It is up to you to define what will be allowed and what will not be allowed before ever being faced with the challenge. Listen to God's voice, understand who He is, follow Jesus with your cross and take time to define the line for what you are going to allow in your life today!
