Not Eating is Not an Option!
Ever wonder what baby food tastes like? Maybe if you have raised a child you have tasted it.Basically, it is food and the nutrients needed for our bodies created in a form that a baby can consume, digest and contain.Even before baby food, there is baby formula and milk. These are simply different ways to give the nutrients needed for the human body to continue to grow at the rate that it is growing. Babies don't have the teeth or ability to digest the food that we eat as adults so we have to find other ways to get the nutrients to them. Not eating is simply not an option.I was thinking about this the other day when God revealed something to me. You may have heard a lot of people or pastors referencing the below verses and talking about those that are new Christians that need to learn the fundamentals of God's Word and the principles behind Christianity.1 Corinthians 3:1-2"Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly, mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready."Hebrews 5:12-14"We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. But God told me the other day that is it not just new Christians that need the help "digesting" God's Word/voice.Even as adults there are times where we aren't able to process all the foods that we normally eat. Think about when you have a virus or a "stomach bug." When you start feeling better you don't eat a steak, or something else heavy. You eat something like Chicken Noodle Soup or something similar. This gets the nutrients in your system and you can ease yourself back into more solid food.Maybe the devil has tempted you or you have stepped away from following Christ as closely as you once did. This could be viewed as a season in your life where you are "sick" or had a "stomach bug" and need to be reintroduced to Gods Word in an easier way. It's focusing on the fundamentals of what God wants to tell you...consuming God's Word in a much simpler way.If you are at a place in your life where you are able to consume "solid food" then I encourage you to continue to do so every day through reading Gods Word and diving into what He has for you. It will help you get stronger and be more spiritually healthy. But if you or a friend are at a point in your life where you need to consume "milk" don't force yourself (or your friend) to eat "solid food" before you/they are ready. If forced to eat food before you are ready, you will more than likely not be able to digest it and even worse you may be turned off of it for a long time as a result. The ultimate goal is to hear Gods Word, and regardless of where the nutrition comes from or how it looks you should always keep eating!
