Don’t Rejoice Because Evil Spirits Obey You; Rejoice Because Your Names Are Registered in Heaven
Eleanor – A 1967 Ford Mustang GT 500 with a few slight modifications. This is my dream car and is featured in the movie, “Gone in 60 Seconds.” It’s one of those movies that no matter what channel it is on I have to stop and watch it, if for only to catch a glimpse of that beautiful piece of machinery. I find myself getting excited over the car chase scene, and even though I have seen it a thousand times I still take in every single second and detail like I’m seeing it the first time.Do you have a movie, song, home video, or something else like that? You know exactly what is going to happen next but you can’t help but get excited and experience such joy from those moments. Well Jesus has those moments too.It’s hard for me to imagine, and maybe you too, but Jesus has already lived out this exact moment you are reading this. He was right here reading your thoughts, emotions, physical wellbeing, heart, and soul. And thousands of years ago to boot. He has seen this very moment in time before, but he can’t wait to see it again. And do you know why, because it involves his most treasured possession that brings him pure joy; You!Let’s take a look at the other end of the spectrum; Satan. You see Satan’s fate has already been decided, but let’s look at what Jesus had to say about this;
Luke 10:18 - “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!”
We already know the end of Satan’s story; to spend eternity in a lake of fire. Seriously think about that for a second; he will spend not 100 years, 200 years, a millions years, but eternity in a lake of fire. Imagine if you had to spend the rest of your earthly life in a burning house and all the pain that would go with that. You wouldn’t even be able to pass out or die to have any sort of reprieve. Multiply that agony by eternity and that is what Satan and his cronies are going to get served with in the near future.Satan’s story isn’t one he wants to go around telling everyone so he turns our attention onto ourselves. Shaming us, guilting us, lying to us, basically trying to destroy our lives. If he has nothing to live for (other than a lake of fire) why wouldn’t he try to create havoc and bring some people down with him? As the old saying goes, misery loves company, but the beautiful part in all of this is that you and I do have a choice in this.God loves you. So much so that he actually went to hell and demanded the keys to your very soul be placed in his hand. He wants to give you every chance in the world to know him and spend eternity in the Garden of Eden with him. Even if you feel like you are doomed to spend an eternity in the lake of fire, God hasn’t given up on you and he never will.
Luke 10:18-20 - “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”
