Remember that God is Forgetful

My grandmother has been struggling with her memory over the past years. I was talking with my mom and she was explaining to me how my grandmother was doing.  My mom goes and spends time with her and does things with her to get my grandmother out and active, while taking care of things that need to be done.  Mom tells me that she can tell my grandma enjoys doing things and being active when she is doing them, but after they are done she doesn't remember what she has done.  While explaining this to me, my mom said it very simply...just just enjoys living in the moment then forgets about it.I started thinking about this, and whether I believed this was a good way to live or not.  Now I know that my grandmother doesn't really have a choice, but part of me loves the fact that she is so in the moment and living everyone of her life moments to the fullest.  She just enjoys what is in front of her...period.  She is not concerned about what is coming next or what has already happened.Matthew 6:34 - "“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. On the other hand, there are things that God wants us to remember...like His promises.  The Israelites easily forgot where they came from and what miracles God had performed to save them.  So I do believe that there are things that are important to remember throughout our lives.Psalm 105:5 - "Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,"But then it hit me.  As much as she would like to remember, she just doesn't.  My grandmother is a living example of how God treats our sins! God has promised us multiple times throughout His Word (see below) that He will forget our sins.  That was the purpose of John 3:16, and Him sending His Son to die for our sins.  He doesn't have to remember them, He can forgive us (we should always ask His forgiveness) and He will forget it ever happened.  Its just simply in His nature not to remember sin.Isaiah 43:35 - "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more."Hebrews 8:12 - "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."Psalm 103:12 - "as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."Micah 7:19 - "He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea"So if you want to remember something...remember these promises.  Remember the promise that God is forgetful!   Take joy and confidence in the fact that while we are human and mess up, God is living in the moment, just like my Grandmother...and He doesn't care what you did in the past!
