A Servant Heart Yields Much Fruit
When was the last time you served? I am not referring to waiting tables at Chili’s during college. And I am not even necessarily referring to volunteering at church. When was the last time you saw a need, went out of your way, setting aside your agenda, and filled that need expecting nothing in return? This is called a servant heart.
A servant heart is a vital part of the life of a follower of Jesus.
Understanding this is integral. It’s so important that if serving others is not a part of your daily life, a part of your thinking, and a part of what it means to be you, you may have fallen into self-deception. Your faith may be quite shallow.Now, there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. We live in the new covenant of Grace. However, in the Gospel of John Chapter 15, the words of Jesus bear witness that our lives are to bear fruit. More than that, we are to bear much fruit. More than that, we are to bear fruit that lasts.Perhaps you have felt your efforts have been fruitless lately. Your business is not profitable, your marriage is tense, your singleness is lonesome, your finances may be stressing, or your job is a bear. May I say it is possible you are not in connection with the vine?
Apart from a relationship with Jesus, we can do nothing. (John 15:5)
A fruitful life begins and ends with your relationship with God. He is the reactor to recharge your battery; the eternal fuel source. But He is so much more than that. He is the intimate ally. When Jesus returned to heaven, He left us a great friend, the Holy Spirit, who leads us in to all truth.In a gentle, yet persistent way, the Holy Spirit will urge you in the direction you should go, and that way always points home to Jesus; not necessarily to your better circumstances.

Instead, of asking God to fix your problems today, why not sow what you wish to reap? Count someone else as more important that yourself. Reconnect with Jesus or maybe connect with him for the first time. (Romans 10:9) Ask him to give you the eyes to see someone else’s troubles and to give you the wisdom to help solve it expecting nothing in return. Doing it all for the audience of one. Then you will be storing up treasure in Heaven!
