What Are You Doing With Your Talent?

Have you ever gotten lost on YouTube?  You start watching a review on a power drill and an hour later you find yourself crying from laughter at videos of babies laughing.  Hopefully I’m not the only one that has done this, but I found myself doing it again this week.  However this time God really spoke to me with the videos that came up.I don’t remember what it was that originally brought me to YouTube, but I came across a video by some construction workers in Indiana that like to sing while they work.  I had heard about these guys on the radio just a few days ago and was curious to see what all the excitement was about.  The song they sang was “How Great Thou Art” which I absolutely love.  Anyways, I played the video and was completely blown away by how awesome they were (See below) and it even gave me chills.Naturally I couldn’t just stop there because I felt this connection with the Holy Spirit and craved more.  One of the recommended videos to watch next was another rendition of “How Great Thou Art” but this time it was sung by Carrie Underwood.  As the song was coming to an end, Carrie held nothing back and gave it all she had on the final words.  Wow, it was absolutely breathtaking (See below).I allowed myself one more video and this time it was a choir group that auditioned for Britain's Got Talent.  Needless to say they did great as well and received a standing ovation (see below).As I was watching these videos God posed a question to me, “What are you doing with your talent?”  I had to stop and think about that for a second.  I went back and replayed those videos and looked closely at the people performing and noticed they were literally giving 100% and had a sense of fulfillment because of it.  So I had to ask myself, “what am I doing with my talent?”  “What is my talent?”  “How can I be using it better?”I want to pose those same questions to you, specifically; what are your God given talents?  You may be saying, “I don’t have any gifts or talents.” Well I’m here to tell you you are wrong.  God has given every single one of us talents, and for some of us it takes time for those gifts to blossom.  Please don’t be discouraged by that.  Look at 1 Corinthians 12:4-6;

1 Corinthians 12:4-6There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
