Teach Me How to Trust

I'm taking a break this week from my "Jesus Is..." series.  Sometimes when God shows me something I can't save it until later, I just have to get it out. That's what happened this weekend.I consider myself a pretty good golfer.  Not like professionally good, or even good enough to compete and win in major amateur tournaments, but enough to compete with good golfers on any given day.  I have played my entire life and practice and/or play at least once a week.  If you do something that much you're bound to be decent at it by default. Now that means that I can go out and play pretty well most of the time.  But what happens when I get put under the pressure of a tournament?  Shouldn't change anything...right?WRONG.This weekend I played in a tournament, and on the first hole, the first shot, I hit a golf shot I haven't hit in a long time.  Then a few holes later I did something very similar.  The next day I did the same thing on the same hole.  I did things as a result of the situation and pressure I was in, that I haven't done in years.I worked through it and learned a lot those two days.  I learned that I need to trust the golf swing that I use on a weekly basis as opposed to trying to do something different. The point you should take away here is simply this...DON'T LET THE SITUATION KEEP YOU FROM TRUSTINGOn the golf course I didn't trust my swing or what I had been taught for years when the pressure was on.  But how many times does this happen in our daily lives with our relationship with God.  Something happens suddenly that we weren't ready for, or our friends try and pressure us into doing something we wouldn't normally do.Instead of leaning on the Truth and Word of God that we have known, and what we know to be true and right in our hearts, we change or question just for a second and it makes all the difference in the world.  Before you know it you are so far down a path you didn't want to be down, just because you didn't stand firm in the truth you knew. We have to have a confidence in the Truth that we know.  Trust that God wouldn't lead you astray and regardless of the situation lean into what Gods Word says.  THAT is the only truth that matters and no amount of pressure or stress will change it.

Proverbs 3:5-6"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
