The Battle Christians Fight That The World Cannot
There are many battles we face as Christians. The foundation of our battles, however, is between our flesh and our Spirit. A battle of how we once walked versus how we aim to walk. We aim to walk according to the Holy Spirit, yet we still carry around our flesh. While we still carry our flesh and sometimes gratify our flesh, until the second coming of Christ, when we will be made completely righteous, the Spirit is always prepared to lead and guide us away from our flesh.
When we “walk by the Spirit, we will not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).
While we carry both flesh and Spirit, we must make a conscious choice to walk by the Spirit. The flesh is at war with the Spirit, fighting for our very desires that are not pleasing to God. They are “opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do” (Galatians 5:17).This is a choice that is exclusive to those who believe in the saving grace of Christ. The world does not have this option. Unbelievers live according to the flesh and only to the flesh because the power of the Holy Spirit is not in those who don’t believe. When we fight this battle and choose the Spirit, we are given the fruit of the Spirit: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).

As Christians, we have a unique opportunity to fight every day to win the battle. The battle the world doesn’t even have the option to fight. We have the ability to walk according to the ways of the Spirit as the world sits back and watches how we do it.
What will the world see?
If we are losing the battle the world cannot fight, what fruit are we displaying to those who don’t believe?If we are winning the battle, the world may see a battle being won. One that promises the very fruit the world chases. Let us show them the root of the battle is within, and they can fight and be victorious too....These are the battles we face as Christians.
