The Enemy Can’t Take What You Have (Victory)
I don’t know if you have noticed this or not, but it seems like YouTube has really stepped up their game when it comes to recommending content that may be relevant to you. I have to be careful because I can easily get sucked into a “YouTube black hole” of watching recommended video after recommended video. Mostly I use YouTube for tutorials and to watch lyrical music videos of Christian songs. Just a couple weeks ago I had a Christian song recommended to me by YouTube called “I Belong to You” by Here Be Lions. The chorus of the song really stuck out to me which goes like this; “The enemy can’t take what I have, Or change who I am, I belong to you”
Fighting From Victory and Not for Victory
I instantly fell in love with the chorus because it’s so simple yet so profound. It also instantly reminded me of a study our life group went through by Louie Giglio called “Goliath Must Fall.” If you haven’t been through that study go and do it now, it is phenomenal! Anyways, in one of the sessions, Louie speaks about how we are fighting from victory and not for victory.Did you catch that? If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and have given your life to him you are fighting FROM victory and not for victory. The enemy likes to trick us into thinking we have to fight to keep it, or that we might lose it. Now, I’m not going to cover the once saved always saved debate, but just stick with me for a little bit…

The enemy deceives us, confuses us, and tries to mislead us so we are more vulnerable to hearing and entertaining his lies. But no matter what he says or does he cannot have the final say and he can’t take what you and I have which is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and our salvation in him. Hopefully, there were a few Amens proclaimed after reading that because it’s life-changing and is the last thing the enemy wants you to know or understand.
The Enemy Can’t Take What You Have
Shortly after hearing the chorus of the song, “The enemy can’t take what I have,” I came across Colossians 2:13-15 and it was like I was reading it for the first time all over again;
Colossians 2:13-15 - 13 When you were spiritually dead because of your sins and because you were not free from the power of your sinful self, God made you alive with Christ, and he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the debt, which listed all the rules we failed to follow. He took away that record with its rules and nailed it to the cross. 15 God stripped the spiritual rulers and powers of their authority. With the cross, he won the victory and showed the world that they were powerless. (NCV)
Own Your Victory!
As you can see, verse 15 speaks directly to the issue we have been covering today. God stripped the spiritual rulers and powers of their authority rendering them powerless to take what you have! Please take that, believe it, and own it as you walk alongside Jesus through your faith walk.
