The Hardest Easiest Thing You'll Ever Do
Over the past week, I have struggled with one of the hardest frustrations I've dealt with in recent months...Truth be told, this frustration grew from a complete disgust for so many things around me: materialism, elitism, self-entitlement, hatred, prejudice, false gospels, addiction, etc. The list goes on and on and they are the hardest. I mean, come on, if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that our world is jacked up. We have collectively pursued the things above (just to name a few) and let's face it, the world would be a better place without them.Now... Before I go on, let me explain: When I started to see these things and exactly what they are doing to our communities, I reacted in the EXACT opposite manner than I should have. After all, Jesus was a friend to sinners; wasn't He? He went into the bars, the brothels, the markets, the Beverly Hills of Old, and He communed with those who had soft hearts ready to hear...
What did I do? I turned my nose and cursed them. Why?
#1. I bought into the lies of Satan (the Accuser and Deceiver). Remember he prowls around like a lion, seeking who he can devour... 1 Peter 5:8. He wants nothing more than for us to tear each other apart and run from Grace.#2. In purchasing Satan's lies, I simultaneously downloaded and installed the latest software patch to my heart labeled "Self-Righteousness: Pride X" (That's for those of you diggin' the new iPhone "10".)

Nevertheless, the point is, I took my eyes off of Christ and began to sink. (Recall when Peter walked out onto the water to meet Jesus? It's the exact same situation.). I left the Shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1) and, in doing so, I turned my ear to Satan, relied on myself and began to stray. However, the story doesn't end there... Why not?
Because Jesus rocks.
We have a King who reigns for eternity and the very second I cried out to Him and told Him I didn't understand why I was so bitter and further told Him I wanted back in His arms... you know what He did?He "Spartan kicked" Satan to the throat and pulled me out of the waves I decided to jump into on my own accord. That's the King we serve. He's ALWAYS there to be our shield and avenger.
So, what does all of this have to do with "the Hardest Easiest Thing You'll Ever Do"?
Let's re-visit the heart of reason #2 above: Pride. Truth is there's no room for pride in the Kingdom of Heaven. In order to truly experience redemption through grace (and grace alone) we HAVE to set aside our pride, folks.BUT...We love our pride, don't we? We display it at work, in sports, when we go to the gym, when we drive our shiny cars, when we dress to impress, and when we host social gatherings. It's a sickness and I t's everywhere. Ultimately, it's sin... and we can never conquer it without doing the hardest easiest thing you'll ever do:
Die to your pride... And let Jesus lead.
That's the ONLY solution. If you can't call yourself a son or daughter of God yet, I hate to break it to you; but there's only one thing keeping you from Eden. It's your pride. If you are redeemed in Christ, I guarantee there's only one thing preventing you from that next wholesome step in your walk with Him. It's your pride. It's time folks... Let's resolve to set our pride aside and let Jesus lead. When we do, we will walk on water and become superheroes; because all folks will see is the real super hero: JESUS.That, ladies and gentlemen, is the hardest easiest thing you'll ever do; but trust me... It's worth every breath and every step you'll ever take.
