You Must Always Keep God Bigger Than Your Problems

God's been teaching me a lot lately that He is constantly communicating to our Spirits. Continuously. Just like we are told in Scripture to pray without ceasing, God is already speaking to us without ceasing.

The problem is, most of us aren't listening like we should be.

"....but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice." - 1 Kings 19:12"And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way, walk in it,' when you turn to the right or turn to the left." - Isaiah 30:21"... I God, will answer him appropriately. I will answer him according to his many idols..." - Ezekiel 14:4

One of the most important principles to hearing God correctly is simply realizing that God's voice is THE smallest, quietest voice possible in your spirit. Literally anything else drowns it out whether it's thoughts, focuses, or subconscious desires. For it is the nature of God to graciously step aside when we actively choose to focus on anything other than Him, or even if we are just simply passively allowing anything to take a more active precedence in our hearts and minds than Him.

The last verse above states how God's direction will be diluted in our lives if we hold idols. We commonly think of idols as blatant and wanton desires that we actively disregard God over. But what are idols really? They're simply anything at all, no matter how small, that holds a more active presence in our heart and mind than Jesus himself does.

This even includes the very things we're praying about.

So what are you actively thinking about when you're communing with God: the thing you're praying about, or the God of the universe you're coming to? Because if you let the problems you're presenting to God even subtly take more hold in your mind than the Lord Jesus and His power and love, then you'll drown out the direction He's already trying to give you.Remember, from Matthew 6:8, the Lord already knows what you need before you begin praying. So keep your petition short, and redirect your heart on Him and actively keep it there. Continuously. For He has already secured the victory in your problem, just focus on Him and His lead will follow.
