A Christian Perspective On Singleness [4 Promises From God]

Have you ever wondered how God intends for you to find your future spouse? Should you be on the lookout constantly? Is it acceptable to wonder who it might be? Or, should you sit back and allow things to take the course as you are single? Paul, in 1 Corinthians 7, answers these questions accurately.

Being single comes down to whose perspective you are putting first. Who are you serving: your desires and wants or Gods?

Paul instructs us in 1 Corinthians 7:27, 32-33 to see relationships in this manner, "…Are you unmarried? Do not seek a wife." His reasoning for this is because "…I want you to be free from concern. The unmarried man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; but the married man is concerned about worldly things, how he may please his wife."

We have one master, Christ, and our entire way of life should be pointing to Him.

When we entertain the thoughts of seeking out a spouse, we begin to lose focus on the reason for living. God did not say it is wrong to marry. But, it should not be our concern. He does give us the desires of our hearts, but that only takes place when our desires line up with His.God longs for us to be fully committed to Him in all things, and when it is His time for marriage, He will orchestrate it, but it is not our place to seek it out. Our task is for our interest never to be divided but fully be devoted to serving the Lord.Like me, if you are single, our perspective should be to rejoice that God has given us a time to be free of distractions, concern, and the privilege to have completely undivided devotion to the Lord. Singleness is a gift and not a burden.
