America is God's Nation [The Truth About the History of the USA]
What if I told you that the founding fathers were the metaphorical Kings David and Solomon of our millennium? What if I told you that the day our great nation was established, we were fully reliant on God’s “divine providence” – as written by Thomas Jefferson? America, despite its’ faults, is the most blessed nation on the face of the planet. Blessing is not coincidental, and has everything to do with the way in which we were founded. Let’s examine God’s role in the founding of America, and what we can do today to bring America back into God’s graces.
July 4th, 1776 – one of the greatest days in the history of man.
A fledgling republic declared its’ independence in a world of monarchs. Openly declared that all men are created equally by God, and asked God for his protection in the coming war. Yes, revisionist history has left this last part out of the history books – God was mentioned four times in the American Declaration of Independence from Britain. In the interest of your time, we are going to examine two of them. In their first appeal to God, the founding fathers state:
“We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by the Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States;”
By appealing to God for the “rectitude” of their intentions – they are saying that they prayed about the morality and righteousness of their intentions of declaring independence. As they are concluding the Declaration, they state the following:
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”
“With a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence” – providence is as follows: “the protective care of God or of nature as a spiritual power.”
The founding fathers knew that a tough war was coming, and they BOLDLY declared that they were going to be a free an independent nation, dependent on God for their protection. Notice the dichotomy in their mindset back then and our mindset today: they were DEPENDENT on God; do we have that mindset today?

Finally, in the ultimate dedication of America to God, enter General George Washington. General Washington was the first president of the United States of America. Often left out of history books is that he led both houses of congress to a local church. He led them in prayer – yet again appealing to God, and he placed the nation in God’s hands. I know this prayer is in old English, but stay with me:
"Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large.And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice. To love mercy. To demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
There is so much in two short paragraphs!
In the first paragraph, Washington humbly asks for protection over America. For, its’ citizens to submit themselves to its’ government. To have hearts of affection and love towards each other. Then, Washington asks for strength from God for the nation to embody all the characteristics of God himself. And then, the most important line “without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation.” Without a humble imitation of the example of God, we can never hope to be a happy nation. Without God, we will be an unhappy nation.In closing, I would like to make a few points and leave you with a few questions. First, revisionist history, with poor intentions, has completely left out the intertwining of God and the United States’ government. America, found on reliance to God and in prayer. On the first day of our first president, he asks God for His protection. He also asked that the nation would always follow God so that it may be forever happy.
