Are We Rooted in Christ or in the World? [Important Question]
The storms of this life will come when we least expect it. What is going to keep us standing strong and not toppled over by the influences around us? The only thing standing between God and us is the things of this world. The question is this, are we rooted in Christ or in the world?The metaphor of the life of a seed is a perfect depiction of staying firm and rooted with God. When we first came to Jesus our life resembled a seed. We had to establish where it was going to be planted. Did we want it near nutritious soil, where we knew we could be feed, or did we fall on dry soil that eventually show no life? Of course, we choose the nutritious soil. There our seed could take root and blossom. Those roots would go deep into the ground to ensure that when the storms came, it would not be swayed.
"Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of God.” - Psalms 92:13
As our seed began to mature, we produced branches that had fruit. Fruit gives birth to life. With bearing fruit also comes pruning. The word prune means to cut away and weed out.In John 15:2 Jesus demonstrated this when he said, “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” Just as a tree is pruned, so we also have to prune our lives.
What are the weeds in our life that are making us dead in Christ?
The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, if your fruit is not bearing any of these traits then it is the season to weed out those things in your life.We may be in a so-called “season” right now where our fruits have shriveled up and we are thirsty.It seems as though, we are either entering into, coming out of or in the midst of an overwhelming situation. It may be hard to see God throughout the rain and clouds, but know whom your roots stand firm in. They are not in the roots of this world that can be pulled out with a gust of wind, but they are in a God, who conquered death.If we trust in the Lord by placing our confidence in him, not only will we be blessed, but we will not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17:8)God has won the battle and that storm has no power over us. We are victorious. Now it is time to let God's rain come down on you. His rain will clinch that thirst by bringing a peace that surpasses all understanding through all circumstances and we will bear fruits.
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” - John 15:4
No longer will we sway in the winds but stand firm because we are grounded in his root that is an unbreakable bond.
