Be Still and Listen to the Waves
My house is less than one mile from the beach and on the right nights, when it gets quiet in the neighborhood, you can hear the ocean through all the trees and other homes around my house. On these nights, I like to sit out on my back porch, or go out in the front yard and listen to the sounds of the waves crashing in the distance. It almost makes me feel like I am there on the sand looking at them.I am able to experience and enjoy the power and beauty of the ocean even though I can't see it and am not immediately in front of it. With that being said, I want to pose a simple question.
Where in the bible does it say you have to be inside of a church building to hear and experience God?
Exactly...it doesn't. Now, yes, you can hear and experience God in a church setting and I highly encourage that, however, it is not a requirement. It is not a requirement for you to get the experience. You don't have to be directly looking at a preacher, or singing along with the band/choir in front of you. God is all around us and wants us to experience Him outside of the church just as much as He wants us to inside.

Just think about the things you see that make you thankful or aware that God exists. Whether it's the ocean, the mountains, animals, or something else. He is evident if you only take a moment and "listen to the waves."
There is beauty in the way God created our minds.
He created them with the ability to remember things even if we can only listen from afar. Even when I listen to the waves in the distance, I can visualize what they look and feel like since I've seen them before. I can think about the view I saw nearly 15 years ago when my family went to the Grand Canyon. That visual and memory alone gives me something to experience God through. Regardless if it has been a long time since I was standing in front of it.There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. - Ephesians 4:4-6For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. - Romans 1:20"Be still and know that I am God." - Psalm 46:10
