BELIEVE!

At a recent training at work, the instructor was trying to emphasize the importance of belief to the class. He showed us a video, and within that video, the speaker made a powerful statement. He said, "What you do simply proves what you believe." The Holy Spirit immediately jumped on that and began teaching me all sorts of spiritual truths behind that statement.

The truth is that we all BELIEVE in something. Some might try and argue by saying that their philosophical stance is to not have belief in anything. But that is literally impossible. To say that you don't believe in anything is an assertion of belief in itself. But that is a discussion for another post. It is an absolute indisputable fact that what we do on a daily basis is dictated by what we believe. For example, someone might have a belief that hard work is foundational to life and is the backbone of society. This is probably the same person who is always working hard. Someone else might believe that hard work is pointless and it really doesn't achieve anything in the long run. This is also a person that others might label "lazy" because this person is typically not seen working. Belief forms the very foundation of how we conduct ourselves on a daily basis. This is why at the most foundational level of Christianity, Jesus tells us to BELIEVE. Over and over again in scripture, Jesus is message is to BELIEVE in Him. He focuses way more on believing than He does on doing. Check out these scriptures:1. Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me - John 14:12. But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. - John 20:313. But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” - Mark 5:36I could go on and on listing scriptures about believing. Jesus talked about it consistently throughout scripture. What we believe is everything. It literally defines who we are. The world knows this truth just as well as Jesus, and the world offers us an endless list of options of things to believe in. Jesus knew that we would be overwhelmed with options of things to believe in, which is why He came to simplify it for us. He simplified it by telling us that He was the only belief that will satisfy. He is the only option that can bring true rest to our souls, and help us to live the life that we were created to live.Jesus was direct and clear that in stating that He is the only thing that we can truly trust in. He is the only true "good Shepard who lays down his life for his sheep" (John 10:11). He is the only name that we can trust in for our salvation (John 14:6). He is the only name by which we will be empowered to live life to the fullest and the way it was intended to be lived: with passion and purpose (John 10:10). He is the only name by which we will find true forgiveness, healing and restoration. He is the only one who will never let us down, who will ALWAYS remain true to His promises. He is the only thing we can BELIEVE in that will empower us to LIVE the empowered life we were always meant to live.Today, all I am asking is that you take a couple of minutes and ask God to reveal those things you are believing that are holding you back. Ask Him to shed light on those areas of your heart. Then, in the very next breath, ask Him to to help you to accept and believe His truth. Ask him to fill you with the only BELIEF that will satisfy.
