Childlike faith makes room for supernatural results

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 18: 2-4As I was travelling this past week for work, I had the opportunity to get a lot of time in at the hotel gym. One evening, I went down to get a run in before dinner. As I was about to hop off the treadmill at the end of my workout, I noticed that there was another man in the gym with me. I looked over and he gave me a friendly smile. I noticed that he had tattoos all over both of his arms. I struck up a conversation by telling him how the artwork on his arms was amazing. He began to tell me how he wished that he had never gotten all those tattoos. He explained how he wished he had listened to his mother, and at least not gotten them on his hands and neck. As my new friend, let's call him Jack, was opening up about wishing he didn't have his tattoos, I felt led just to tell him that despite those tattoos that he may not want, that Jesus loves Him just the way he is.As soon as I told Jack what God had put on my heart, His face lit up. He looked back and me and said, "I love Jesus, bro." Then Jack began to tell me one of the most incredible testimonies that I have ever heard. The only reason that I am sharing it with you now is because he gave me permission. Jack told me that as of a year ago, he was a general in a white supremacy organization. I am not going to go into what that is all about, but if you want more information then you can google it and find plenty of info. Let's just say for the time being that it is an organization based primarily on hate and intolerance. So Jack was sitting in his front yard one evening drinking a beer and waiting on some friends to come over to his place. Jack and his friends had plans for a night of total debauchery. Before Jack's friends arrived, this little black girl walked up to him in his front yard and said to him, "Mr. Jack, will you come to church with me tomorrow?"Jack replied, "What?" He had been completely caught off guard, and he was a little worried that his friends might see him talking to this little black girl.The little girl looked back at Jack and said, "At church they told us to invite one of our friends to service. I thought that I would ask my friend, Jack"Jack said that in that moment, everything in his life changed. He could feel all the hate in his heart beginning to leave. He looked back at that little girl and told her that he would go to church with her, and decided that he would follow her family there the next day. When the little girl walked away, he put down the beer and hasn't picked one up since. The next day, he walked into that church, and it was an all black church. He was the only white man. He said that they loved him and received him with open arms, and Jack gave his life to the Lord at that service. That day, God removed all the hate from his heart, and his life has been radically transformed ever since.As Jack finished his story, I sat there in utter amazement. God had used this beautiful, little girl as a conduit for something so miraculous. She had no idea the type of man that Jack was. She wasn't thinking about his past, or how he might respond to her. All this little girl knew was that God wanted her to invite her friend to church, so she did. That is childlike faith in it's absolute purest form, and God used that childlike faith to bring about a completely supernatural result.I don't know about you, but experience often gets in the way of my obedience. I can become too smart for my own good real quick. God might give me a simple command to just reach out and say hello to someone, and I don't because I start thinking about all the potential uncomfortable situations that could result. That is the exact opposite of childlike faith. It's pride. God isn't asking us to have all the answers. He doesn't make following him so complicated that only special people can do it. He makes it simple so that we can all follow Him. Our simple obedience goes so much further than we can see. Our childlike faith makes room for His supernatural results.
