The Distance

Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope and pray you and your family are blessed this holiday season.  If this is a tough time of year for you I will be praying for you as well and hopefully you can take comfort in my blog post today. No one can fully understand what Heaven is like, but we know that it is greater than any high or ecstasy we can experience here on earth. So imagine for a moment that you are living in a penthouse suite surrounded by your family and closest friends.  This is an all-inclusive penthouse with every need provided for and not a worry in the world.  Then one day you are asked if you would be willing to give it all up and move down to the basement to carry the burden of the sick, lonely, angry, and depressed that are living down there.  Would you do it?That’s a tough question to answer, but we know the answer God would and did give…. a resounding YES.  He yearns to be connected and reconciled with his children, just as any parent wants to be reunited with a lost child our heavenly father wants to be re-united to us.  Every single day we have the opportunity to say YES to God’s open and inviting arms.God couldn’t stand the distance or the silence anymore.  He came running after you and I.  He died for you and I.  This is the reason we have Christmas, not to buy each other presents, not to over eat, not to sit around and watch football.  He did it because he loves you like CRAZY.  He literally jumped at the opportunity to move down to the basement to help carry your burden.  That is why he was born of a virgin in a dirty stable, surrounded by smelly animals.  He didn’t care about any of that, rather he cared about was the opportunity to have a relationship with you and you alone. He has fantastic things planned for you, things that will blow your mind wide open.  Every single day when you wake up tell God, "YES, I can't wait to spend this day with you!".  I guarantee you will never regret it!As I wrap this post up I want you to listen to one of my favorite songs.  Now it’s not a traditional Christmas song, but it tells about God coming to this earth and everything he left behind (i.e. the reason we celebrate Christmas).  Please listen to it and take it to heart. Additionally, please go and hug at least one loved one during the Christmas weekend.  Cherish those people and memories and share the love of Christ with them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JunSSeX63w
