Does Modernization Mean A Better World In God’s Eyes?
Advancements in science and technology have brought mankind to greater discoveries. These discoveries have offered countless opportunities for exploration – more mysteries unraveled. And yet sometimes we encounter questions on whether modernization is for the better or worse.
Science and Faith Intertwined
To attempt to answer that kind of question would mean getting varying answers. Some would say that modern society is way better than the old times. But there are some who would contradict this by saying that there are advancements which brought more harm than good.No one can decide because both answers are correct. We have seen how developments in science brought a cure to certain illnesses, and, yet, nuclear weapons have brought more impending threat than beneficial defense.

Industrialization also paved the way to more efficient processing which boosted commercialization. But with increasing consumerism comes a threat in the environment – lots of plastic and non-biodegradable wastes.Urbanization catered to the demands of the increasing population numbers, and it provided more housing opportunities for workers who preferred living near their workplaces. But it also caused traffic congestion and, eventually, air and noise pollution.
Is There Going To Be An Imbalance?
The most difficult question to answer with regard to this is whether or not we are creating an imbalance through all of these advancements and developments? Are we disrupting the natural order of things and getting more than what is required.We have to admit that to spearhead these innovations and expansion, we need to use our natural resources – gas, land, and other raw materials. We get those things from none other than our planet earth. And the sad part here is that earth’s resources are finite.There are several efforts (public and private) to replenish lost resources, but a lot of studies have proven that the rate of consumption is higher than how much is being restored. Environmentalists, climate change advocates, and other pro-nature organizations have made their pleas heard – to act before it’s too late.But it seems they are fighting a battle against a huge army.
A Battle Only God Can Win
Only God knows when the earth has had enough and when man has used up enough. He is the One who created this universe, and He knows the ins and outs of this system way better than any brilliant scientist could ever discover.
"O Sovereign LORD! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!” – Jeremiah 32:17
He knows the weaknesses of earth and mankind as well as their strengths. He knows man’s hunger for power and knowledge, and He knows how man will use them for his own benefit.
“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the one to whom we are accountable.” – Hebrews 4:13
A Few Questions to Consider
Are we really making this world a better place to live in through modernization or are we slowly destroying it? How much longer can earth withstand man’s uncontrolled use? Where will our children and the future generation live if the earth will crumble to rubble? And if that happens, will the history of mankind end along with it, too? Is there hope for humanity? When God created the world and mankind, can it mean that earth is only a small portion of it and there are indeed other inhabitants across the universe that advancements in science and technology can help us discover?But the most interesting is this,Would it really matter if there are human beings or other earth-like planets in the great unknown outside our world?
