With God, Our Lives are Better
Continuing with the theme of stewardship, this writing will focus on committing our plans and work to the Lord. The principle of stewardship in the Bible refers to managing and utilizing responsibly what God has blessed us with for His honor and glory and the betterment of fellow man. This includes money and time. In this piece, the topic will be centered around surrendering our plans and work fully to God, having the faith that He will guide us to success.
God has created us with the ability to think independently, to make plans and perform work in many different forms. He has provided us with the gift of life and all the blessing that it entails. Reflecting on the above definition of stewardship, we are therefore to manage our lives responsibly, in accordance with God’s will. Proverbs 16:3 reads as follows: “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” God will bless those who seek Him first and submit all their plans to Him. God’s character is love and wants to see us, as His children, be successful in our plans. Jeremiah 29:11 reinstates this promise. ““For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”” — Jeremiah 29:11, NIV.
God has our best interests at heart.
While there is a clear promise of blessing when we submit all we do to God, it is not always easy to give all control to Him. When faced with pressing decisions in life or challenges that seem impossible, it can become easy to neglect God’s will on a particular matter. However, it is vital to keep God central in all aspects of our lives and to consciously submit everything that we do too Him. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us that while it may seem like we as humans are in control, God still has the final say.
The verse reads as follows: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” — Proverbs 16:9, NIV.
Time is valuable in today’s society. Life seems to have become busier and the list of things to do seems unending. But something that everyone has been given 24 hours by God, and in line with stewardship, it is our way to responsibility to honor God with what He has blessed us with and submit to Him.
“But seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” —Matthew 6:33.
Submitting our plans to God starts by making time to spend with Him, building a positive relationship with Him. All healthy relationships produce trust, making it easier to fully submit to God. If one believes that the person whom they have a relationship with is trustworthy, they will entrust the counterpart with their most personal information. This emphasizes the importance of making the effort to build a relationship with God through reading His Word and taking time to talk to Him in prayer. Through doing these simple tasks, it will be a joy to submit your plans and all work done to Him to control, and have the faith that under His guidance, success will be produced.
Hebrews 11:1 reads as follows: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”.
Have the confidence in God that He is our great provider and with Him, our lives will transform for the better.
Invitation:
Let us make it a constant effort to submit any decisions, worries, plans or work to God. Thank Him for giving us the ability to think critically and to manage our lives alongside Him. Take a few minutes each day to consider that the King of the universe values each of our input into managing our lives and wants to help us succeed. God bless.
