3 ways to be a fake Christian

I have been working in the business world for many years now. I worked part time during my high school years and full time ever since I graduated. I have been involved in leadership positions since 2007. From where I sit, you see a lot of things happen. You learn a lot about people in general. For anyone who is not in corporate America working a fast pace job, what I am sharing may seem foreign; but I hope that it brings new wisdom and perspective.If you want to see a dark evil place, work in the business world. Work in an industry where a lot of money is being made. People, including "Christians" will do anything short of killing someone in order to get ahead financially. This is because in the business world, very few people have the right heart involved; we are more concerned with making money than what we are making that money for. The bible sums this up so well in Matthew 6:24, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."I recently had a bad situation happen at my job (again). Two "Christians" that used to work at the same company as me, stole a large amount of information from the company, left the city and started their own competing business. All while thanking God for the opportunity. They have family and friends praising them for doing what God told them to do.The bible says in Proverbs 11:3-4, "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity." Integrity means to be whole, straightforward, undivided and honest. Duplicity means doubleness of thought, speech, and action. This verse says that unfaithful people will be destroyed. What does that mean to you? To me, that means that people living this way will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Good intentions, good speech and good deeds are not what will get you into heaven; it is your heart toward God and all actions that follow. Proverbs 28:6, "Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways."To be completely transparent with you; I started writing this post many months ago. However, I could not post it in the right heart because I was still recovering from what happened at my company. I didn't want any bitterness or hateful thoughts involved in this post. Today, I can tell you that I have forgiven them in my own heart and God has healed the wound. I felt God call me to write this post for a specific purpose. I am writing today completely out of love to help others. I pray that the 3 points below help challenge people and helps them challenge others to be real Christians.3 ways to be a fake Christian:1. Serve God and moneyThe ex-coworkers mentioned above are involved in church, outreaches and other "Christian" things. However, they have been serving God and money for a long time. In the end, money won. They decided to disregard parts of what the word of God says to chase after their financial master... Serve God and money if you want to be a fake Christian, you'll end up submitting to money. If you want to be a true Christ follower, follow God alone. The blessings that He has for you will follow in His timing and in His way.2. Be unfaithfulThe bible calls King David a man after God's own heart. David had two characteristics that God continuously commented on. David was faithful to God and humble before Him. If God's heart is faithful and humble, what would be the opposite? ...Being unfaithful is being the opposite of God. Faithfulness to God is first, however faithfulness should stream into all areas of our lives; including whom we work for and who our friends are. Be unfaithful to God and to who/what He has placed in your life if you want to be a fake Christian, you'll end up hurting a lot of people and leading them away from God. If you want to be a true follower of Christ, practice faithfulness in ALL areas of your life, not just where it is convenient and comfortable.3. Surround yourself with people who will not hold you accountableThe world around us today tells each of us to do what makes us feel good. Do what is right for you. Do whatever you want and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. A culture has been created where there is no accountability; in fact, we avoid it. We do not want to be told what we are doing is wrong. We want to live our lives the way we want to live them and have people around us that will agree with us. Back to my example of the ex-coworkers, they decided not to have people that would hold them accountable in their lives. They didn't want anyone telling them they needed to stop chasing money instead of God. They didn't want anyone to tell them they were walking in unfaithfulness. They instead decided they wanted people in their lives that would say "Good job!" If you want to be a fake Christian, avoid accountability in your life. Don't allow anyone to correct you; you live the way you want to live.If you want to be a true Christ follower, be aware of the Christians that you are doing life with, hold these Christ followers to a higher standard. Be willing to correct them in love if they are walking contrary to the word of God. Make sure that you have people in your life that are willing, able, and encouraged to do the same. Keep accountability involved in your life. Have Christian's in your life that encourage you to follow God first and that remind you to be completely faithful to Him and others. By doing this, you set yourself up for success to be a true Christian. Serve God alone, be faithful, and encourage accountability.
