Focus on Jesus...Nothing Else

When I was young I was diagnosed with ADD.  For those who don't know what that is it is, in short is a mental disorder where it causes me the inability to focus on multiple items at one time, or keep focus for an extended period of time.  Its something that I struggled with as a kid going through school and even took medication to help me throughout Elementary school.When I moved to Middle School, i determined that I did not want to have to take medication every day so my parents told me I had to figure out a way to handle the disorder without affecting my grades.  SO I did things that helped me focus.  I would sit in the front of every class I was in, and when I was trying to do home work at home I had to make sure I was in a place where nothing else would cause a distraction.Even today, I have to make a point to set myself up for success when it comes to focusing.The Enemy is very good about this in our own lives.  He puts things in our path that He wants to distract us from what is right in front of us.  He wants to distract us from focusing on God and from learning more about Him.Much like I did in my classes in middle school, we need to find ways to keep focus on Jesus and His teachings and allow everything else to fade away.  That is going to look different for everyone.  Some people are much better at multi-tasking, while others need to do one thing at a time.  You know yourself better than anyone else.  But whatever you do, you need to prioritize God and give Him the straightest and clearest path to speak to you without any distractions.  Make it a point to focus on His voice and no one else's.Don't allow the things of this world to cause you not to focus on Jesus.  But just like my favorite hymn says..."Turn your eyes upon Jesus.  Look full in His wonderful face.  And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace."Hebrews 12:2 - fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
