Do You Remember The Holy Spirit During Your Day?
Seriously?! I recently received an e-mail from a family member who was creating drama and picking a fight. I did my best to be polite by not responding to the drama. Then I received a few more e-mails... This is when I lost my patience! I emailed her back and told her exactly what I thought of her and her e-mails. As soon as I hit send I immediately felt convicted. I knew right away that I was grieving the Holy Spirit.In John 14:16-17 NIV we read that the Holy Spirit is with us always, 24/7. He is their to guide us and love us every minute of every day.
Take a minute and read the following passage of scripture. Ephesians 4:29-32:
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
The definition of word grieve is deep sorrow or distress.
We can deeply distress the Holy Spirit in many ways. IE: foul language, anger, rage, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, pride, lying and by what we listen to or watch. We can grieve the Holy Spirit simply watching a crude movie or TV show or by speaking harshly via e-mail.

I have an intimate relationship with my husband and if I were to say or do something to upset him or hurt his feelings, I would do everything I could to apologize and have him forgive me. This is how our relationship with the Holy Spirit should be. We should be so close to Him that we know when we've hurt or upset Him. We should do everything in our power to not hurt or upset Him.As easy as it is to grieve the Holy Spirit by our pride and anger, it is equally just as easy to make him happy and proud by our love for God and our humility.
My Prayer
Father I pray you would strip us of our pride and help us to grow closer to you by knowing and being intimate with the Holy Spirit. Please show us how we are grieving the Holy Spirit and help us to make a change for you! Thank you for your love, in Jesus' name amen.
