The best way to start off a post about identity is with the definition - that way we're all on the same page.
Definition of Identity: The fact of being who or what a person or thing is. (The core of who you are)
When life gets difficult or crazy your identity needs to be something that is not a variable. Who God says you are will never change. Many of us have our identity wrapped up in temporary or variable things. Some examples that we'll cover in this episode are career, social media, and even church.
The only way to truly build identity is through intimacy with God.
Where do you go when you first wake up? Many of us go to social media or checking our phones. But, if our identity was truly in God, wouldn't that be our first thought when we wake up? (Good question to ask yourself!)On this same point you need to remember that God is with you everywhere, no matter what you're doing. You can carry your relationship with God, no matter where you are. You can be connected with the Holy Spirit while you're walking through your normal life.Surrendering to God is what will lead you to walking in your Christ-given identity. A part of surrendering to God is being thankful in all things. Commune with God all day throughout your entire day.

We need to believe what God says about us. That's a huge part of finding our identity in Him. Each of us has greatness and creativity inside of us. That's a beautiful thing. Remember, that Jesus died for YOU. Not just for us all, He died for YOU. That's the foundation for your identity - Understanding that God loves you that much.

Jesus came to restore the lost image of humanity. Jesus died so we could become sons of the King. Viewing yourself as a son or daughter of the King is another correct mindset for us to get into in regards to our identity.
What are some practical ways we can begin to shift our identity to finding it in Christ:
- Commune with the Holy Spirit. - Talk to God! Invite Him into your work, your school, your home.
- Ask God to revile what He wants you to know. - Listen to Him.
- Get into the word of God. - Read what the Bible says about YOU.
- Put your faith into action. - Get off the couch, go love people, witness to people and help them.
Remember, identity has to be all about God. It cannot be what you do for God. It has to be about the one-on-one relationship with God. The most important thing we can do is to know God and to be known by Him.
