4 steps to positively impacting people around you
Each of us has the ability to positively change the atmosphere in the lives of people around us. However, we often get so caught up in our own daily routines that we forget the impact that we can have on others. I have found that it can be the smallest things that end up being the most impactful when it comes to positively changing someone's day. Today I want to share 4 steps that have helped (and reminded) me to positively impact people.1. Start a real conversation. When I am ordering lunch during the work week or at the mall being my wife's wallet for an afternoon, I always attempt to start a real conversation with the people who are on the job. The reaction that I receive from sincerely asking someone how their day is going is amazing. Almost every time, the person I am talking to lights up. By the time I am walking away, it is clear that the mood of the individual had changed from just a short conversation. It changed because someone stopped and cared about how their day was going.

2. Let love be your confidence and motivation."Let all that you do be done in love." - 1 Corinthians 16:14 When I am trying to engage in conversation with people around me that I do not know, it isn't always easy. I try to remember the fact that God created all of us in His image. Not only did He create us in His image, He calls us His sons and daughters! I remind myself that God loves the person that I am trying to talk to as much as He loves me, and because of that, I need to do what I can to show them that love. Because if I don't do my best to show the love of God to someone, who else is going to? What if I am the only Christ follower that interacts with that individual all day? They should remember there was something different about that one person.[easy-tweet tweet="Let all that you do be done in love." via="no"]3. Treat everyone that you cross paths with in a day as part of your life purpose.Jesus' call and ultimate purpose for His life on earth was to go to the cross for all of our sins. But when you read the gospels you read that throughout Jesus' days, He stopped along the way and cared for people. He changed lives everywhere He went; I know that His actions were remembered by the people He interacted with. As believers, we are all called to follow this example. No matter what your purpose on your life may be, remember that positively impacting others along the way is part of it; just as it was for Jesus.4. Make it your goal to be the highlight of someone else's day.Don't get so caught up in your own life and mission that you can't make time to impact someone else. Never neglect the need to share God's love to those around you. If you are part of Christ; you have the tools inside you to be a person of influence. Put this God-given gift into practice today. Do not underestimate your God-given influence; be the highlight of someone else's day for the glory of God! "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see our good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:16
