Jesus Is... (Entry #5)

For those who may have not read previous posts, I am going through traits or characteristics of Jesus that I found while reading through the book of John recently.  I will recap each week so you can see the complete list, but would also encourage you to read past entries as well if any or all of these interest you.  I figured that if the Bible calls us to be life Christ, then we should understand what He was truly like when he was on Earth.Trait #1: Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-2)Trait #2: Jesus is All Accepting (John 1:12)Trait #3: Jesus Loves the Church (John 2:17)Trait #4: Jesus is a Teacher (John 3:1-21)Trait #5: Jesus is a Man of Action (John 4:7)Trait #6: Jesus is The Truth (John 5:24)Trait #7: Jesus is Caring (John 6:5)Trait #8: Jesus is A Problem Solver (John 6:11)See a list of all of the "Jesus is..." series by clicking here.Adding two more this week...Trait #9: JESUS IS ALL KNOWINGJohn 7:1 - "After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him."This is one of my favorite traits of Jesus.  Knowing that He knew and knows everything allows me to walk in confidence that He already knows whats going to happen.  Now I'm not saying I always do that, but I am able to as a result of it.  I think my favorite part about it was that Jesus knew it all, but never really acted like He did.  He let things come to Him and happen as they were supposed to.  I can only imagine if you or I had that ability or knowledge.  Similar to Marty McFly in Back to the Future, we would probably be taking advantage of it for our own good.   But Jesus didn't do that.  Even to the point He knew he was going to die, He waited for the right time, then allowed this world to take Him (even though He asked the Father if there was another way).I say all this to give you confidence and boldness to live out your life with love and grace like Jesus did.  Not with a cocky or arrogant attitude but with an attitude showing love to others as you go, knowing that no matter what, Jesus is never surprised.Trait #10: JESUS IS AN EARLY RISERJohn 8:2 - "At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them."From one of my favorite traits to one of my least favorite, haha.  Not that I don't like something about Jesus, Im just not super excited to think that the Bible calls us to live our lives like Jesus did, knowing that He was an early riser and used that time to His advantage. If there was one thing I could change about myself with a magic wand, I would make myself a morning person and just naturally wake up and be alert early in the morning.  I mean I would love to be up every day at 6am or earlier (and not fall back asleep) and use that time productively.  Jesus did this throughout His life and always benefitted from it.Some of us are morning people and others aren't.  For those that are, I would challenge you to use the time that you wake up early as a benefit to Jesus and God.  Use that time to spend time with Him or reach out to others on His behalf. For those of us that are NOT morning people, I would challenge you to try it once a week for a month, just pick a day.  Then make it two days a week for the next month.  But be careful not to fall back asleep (trust me I know how this works).  Move around, get outside, do something that will keep you up!  And then see what God says to you in the early morning hours that you normally wouldn't have. Now rest up!  Because you have to get up early soon!
