Just because it Is God's Will Doesn't Mean it Will Be Easy

I've watched the movie The Prince of Egypt (an animated movie based on the story of the Israelites' Exodus from Egypt). One part of the story really jumped out at me. You would think that after suffering in slavery and finally being set free, it was going to be smooth sailing all the way to the promise land.Not so fast!  The Israelites couldn't get very far because right in front of them was the red sea with the Egyptians were on their heels. Walking in God's will doesn't mean it will be easy.

No guarantee that God's will is going to be chaos-free

It was at God's command and with His help that they got out of captivity, so why this obstacle and challenge? It should be no surprise that right in the midst of God's will there could be adversity or chaos. Do not lose heart or doubt. God's answer to Moses at that moment was:

“Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on… ” (Exodus 14:15)

A specific instruction on what to do next followed the charge.  It's a reminder here that we need to constantly stay sensitive to God's voice. We can't walk out His will in our own wisdom or strength.

Responding when it gets hard

Is there something you know God has asked of you and because it's getting hard you are starting to doubt? His will is not always easy; just think back to Jesus agonizing in the garden of Gethsemane before going to the cross.

Our response in the midst of such a situation is to draw closer to God and lean on Him. He desires our dependence on Him when things are easy and when it's hard. So like the Israelites, maybe you just need to keep moving on.
