You Will Never Be In This Moment Ever Again

I was sitting at my sisters table this past Thanksgiving, watching my family interacting with one another. Seeing my grandmother’s face light up as she watched Brooke, my 5-year-old niece, dance to the Macy’s Day Parade. In that moment, my life around me slowed down; kind of like what you see in movies. I saw my once tiny nephew, being an almost 14-year-old teenager playing games with this girl’s (me!) husband. My sister’s laughed with my mom as they ate her homemade cinnamon rolls traditionally and I realized how much time had gone by as I slowly panned across every face in the room. I realized as I looked back at my grandmother’s face of wisdom that I would never be able to experience this exact moment again in my entire life. Our lives are made up of many individual moments that come together and create a lifetime of memories. What you are doing right now, reading this post, is something that you will never do again. Sure, you may read this post again, but you will never be in this exact moment again. You see, God created and intended our lives, not to jump from valley to mountain, but to climb the mountain step by step, moment by moment and not only embrace it, but to enjoy it. It’s in those short moments in our every day lives that we are given the opportunity for growth, for love, for hope. The moments where we can choose to either lash out at our spouse for being insensitive or give them grace. The times we are frustrated with our Child's tantrum and we can choose to either throw an identity on them (“you are bad”) or we choose to call them higher and identify the wrong action not the wrong child. The Bible tells us “Unless you are faithful in small matters, you won’t be faithful in large ones…” (Luke 16:10). I truly believe that this is not just about tasks and assignments, but our time. God has called us to be faithful in the small things; the small moments that make up our lives. It's in the small things that God lifts us higher into our purpose and uses us to help others reach the abundant life He has for each of us.The Christmas season and the time leading up to it, isn’t always a joyful one for many people. Some have lost loved ones and no longer get to enjoy moments with them; only memories and sometimes even regretful ones. Some have been broken by a failed marriage or estranged child. We are not just in charge of our moments in life. We influence those around us and have the choice to make them brighter or to make them darker. So when you are spending this Holiday season with your loved ones or even the unlovable... I want you to stop, look at every person you are with, and I mean really look at them and choose to breathe life into every moment and every moment you have influence over; because you will never be in that moment ever again. We may have memories, but our decisions in each moment are responsible for the legacy of our lives. The character, influence and trail we leave to those we have influenced both positively and negatively. Life truly is so short. What we do with our time can be lessened by not using those purposeful moments in our everyday life to walk it out for Christ. Because though you can be healed from it, you will never be able to take back what you said, what you do.Today choose to be faithful in every moment of your life! What if we chose to not become offended? What if we chose grace? What if we truly chose love over strife?I encourage you to you watch this video. But before you do, I want you to pray and ask God to show you the areas of your life/ the people in your life that God wants you to use your moments for. To pour, uplift, or make better.Related Post: Time: What are you doing with yours? (Life = 28,000 Days)What are you going to do with your life moments? You will never be in this moment again.
