Nothing is Impossible with God
A promise from God may seem impossible when you look at your current situation. All the evidence in your life may point in the other direction. How do you remain faithful when all you see is doubt? The faithfulness of God is seen through reflection of personal experiences. Therefore, take the time and look back over the points in your life where you have seen the hand of God, and find encouragement through the testimony of others. The Bible is filled with real people who have experienced the miracles of God when facing the impossible.
Abraham had a promise from God that he would have a son (Genesis 15:4, Romans 4:18).However, circumstances pointed against this promise. Since Abraham and Sarah were well beyond childbearing ages, their bodies were “as good as dead” (Romans 4:19). Doctors today would tell them it couldn’t be done. It’s impossible.
Do you have a God size dream that feels impossible? Do others laugh at your dream or tell you it can’t be done? Many have gone before you and have faced similar situations and doubts. Courage is needed to persevere and to keep moving forward. For beyond doubt remains hope and nothing is impossible with God. Paul retells the story of Abraham in Romans 4. This story is written for our benefit so we can find courage when facing impossible situations.
Believing Against All Odds
“In hope, he (Abraham) believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations…” (Romans 4:18). Where there is a dream, there is always doubt. Most certainly, doubt will flood your mind to persuade you to give up your hope. Remember, you do not need to entertain every thought that comes into your mind. Hope is always a choice. Choosing to continue to believe is up to you. The devil wants nothing more than for you to stop believing in the dream God gave you, for if you stop now, you’ll never reach the great things God has planned for you.
Eyes Don’t See Truth
“He (Abraham) did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb” (Romans 4:19). Your eyes will see and your mind will interpret what you see, and then decide what is to be. However, faith corrects your reasoning for it’s believing in the promise for nothing is impossible with God.
Strengthen Your Faith
“No unbelief made him (Abraham) waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised" (Romans 4:20-21). We all have different levels of faith and our faith can grow. The key to increase is giving God glory and believing His word. Glory is giving worship to God, including your thoughts and your response to situations.
Abraham’s faith came because he was fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised. Are you fully convinced that God is able to do what He has promised you? Or are you convinced that those types of miracles happen only to others and never to you? Being fully convinced starts in your mind. You must reject contradicting thoughts, and remember God is faithful and true. Look back over your life and see His faithful hand over you. In all that you do, including your thoughts, do it with full trust and relying on God to accomplish what He said He will.

Faith is a Walk, Not a Waiting Room
Spurgeon says, “All true believers, like Abraham, obey. Obedience is faith in action. You are to walk in the steps of the faith of father Abraham. His faith did not sit still, it took steps; and you must take these steps also by obeying God because you believe him. That faith which has no works with it is a dead faith, and will justify no one.” The conception of Abraham’s son was a miracle, but it didn’t happen by Abraham and Sarah doing nothing, they had marital relations. Faith requires doing everything in trust and reliance on God.
Today, continue your hope and trust that God is leading you, and remember, nothing is impossible with God.
