There is Power in the Name of Jesus
Romans 8:11 - And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
There is power in the name of Jesus. Do you believe this statement? I absolutely love the two new songs playing on the radio right now from Lincoln Brewster – There is Power, and Jeremy Camp – Same Power. These songs remind us that the same power that rose Jesus from the grave, brought the dead to life, commanded seas to part, rose mountains, calmed a raging sea, healed the sick, etc… lives in all of us that have accepted Jesus into our life.“Ok, that’s all find and dandy but if I’m a believer how do I use this power you speak of?”First, with great power comes great responsibility. Let’s take a look at the book of Luke and see what Jesus said about this subject;
Luke 16:10 - Whoever can be trusted with a little can also be trusted with a lot, and whoever is dishonest with a little is dishonest with a lot. (NCV)
It makes sense doesn’t it? If you had an 8 year old child you wouldn’t let them jump in the family vehicle and take off for Mexico would you? You would give them a little responsibility at a time to see how they handled it and go from there. Jesus does the same thing with us. Jesus has to test and refine our heart to mimic his before he gives us great power/responsibility. Let’s look at Jeremiah where God addresses the human heart and mind;
Jeremiah 17:9-10
“The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out.But I, GOD, search the heart and examine the mind.I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things.I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.” (MSG)
No matter how hard we try to hide the true intentions of our heart and mind God can read right through it and examine us for exactly what we are.The key to being responsible with the power Jesus bestows upon us is to seek him every single day. Pray and talk to him as much as possible. You can speak out loud in your car as you are driving to work, write a journal entry expressing your thoughts and feelings to him, or however you feel comfortable addressing him. Be creative, this is where the true you God created you to be can shine through. The more you talk to him and learn about him the greater power and freedom you will experience.If you aren’t a believer and haven’t publically declared Jesus as your Lord and Savior I would love for you to consider it. Feel free to look up the two songs I mentioned above on YouTube. If there is a stirring in your heart before or after you listen to those songs please pray to Jesus in your own words or feel free to pray the following prayer;Dear heavenly Father, I want to take this moment to submit my life to you. I ask that you forgive me of my sins, which such a gracious gift is given only through your anointed blood on the cross. You died for me and I accept your gift of love, mercy, grace, peace, and eternal life. With faith I declare that Jesus Christ now lives in me forever and ever. Amen!Welcome to the team friend!
