Public Schools in Kentucky Can Now Teach from the Bible

Last week Governor Matt Bevin signed bill 128 which allows public schools in Kentucky to teach from the Bible. School districts in Kentucky can now offer an elective course on the Bible! (How cool is that?) The bill, which easily passed the House and Senate, gives local school boards the option of developing a Bible literacy class as part of their social studies curriculum.Public schools in Kentucky will soon be teaching straight from books of the Bible. This is a huge win for Christianity! It's certainly something to thank God for.

The bill's sponsor, Rep. D.J. Johnson, says students need to understand the role the Bible played in American history. I could not agree more. Here's what D.J. said:
“It really did set the foundation that our founding fathers used to develop documents like the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, all of those came from principles from the Bible." - Rep. D.J. Johnson

This is so true. In a post I published earlier this week, I made a comment along the same lines. Not only is this a win for Christianity, but it's also helping this great nation remember what it's foundation was built on.There was one other thing said in the interview video that I wanted to highlight:

“The idea that we would not want this to be an option for people in school, that would be crazy. I don't know why every state would not embrace this, why we as a nation would not embrace this.” - Governor Matt Bevin

"I don't know why every state would not embrace this, why we as a nation would not embrace this."

Isn't that the truth! As a nation, we need to embrace this. As Christians, we need to be praying for teaching from the Bible in public schools to go national. I'm believing for a nation that turns back to God like never before. What a better place to start than our public school system?

There is an enemy in all this though.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Kentucky is concerned about the courses will be implemented in public schools. Advocacy Director Kate Miller told WDRB News the ACLU will monitor the law closely. (I bet they will.) Kate and the ACLU gang are going to be all over this. They are already looking for any reason to shut this down. One of their main focuses is to make sure that other states don't follow Kentucky.

What can Christians do to get prayer back into public schools?

To get prayer back into public schools, we need to talk about, and share, news like this. We are the silent majority. Sometimes, we need to break our silence and act. The first form of action we can take is prayer. ASK God and He will heal our land. Second, we can talk. Spread the word among parents and students. Talk to staff of the public-school system. Together (unified) we can make a great change in this country. The fact that public schools in Kentucky can now teach from the Bible is a huge win for Christianity. This is something that we need to all be thanking God for. Remember to be praying for this to spread across every state in the USA.
