So you're a Christian but enjoy R-rated movies?

Let me start this post off by saying not everyone is going to agree with this. (Uh-oh... Controversy!) But for those of you who are similar to me, sometimes you see a movie trailer that looks like it would be a great movie, then you see it at the end of the trailer... "Rated-R". (Or even some PG-13 these days!)"Darn it, guess I won't be seeing that one." May be the next words that you end up thinking or saying. Or maybe you end up seeing the movie but just 'Look away' during certain scenes. Or pretend not to hear the extremely vulgar parts. At the end of the day, as Christian's we really shouldn't be opening ourselves up to many of the things that are in movies these days. I know I know, some will say, "Well I don't feel convicted." or "It doesn't really affect me." And maybe that is the case for you! Personally I am like sponge, I'll repeat a lot of what I hear and see!

I encourage each of you to take 3 - 5 minutes to read this post:Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.

Now to the point of this post...Recently I found a 'solution' for watching some of these movies that look great but may not be appropriate. The company is called VidAngel. Don't let the name fool you, it's not necessarily a Christian company. However, they do offer Christian's, like me, an alternative to watch some movies that we have wanted to see but were not appropriate or within our beliefs / convictions.vidangel-logoVidAngel offers a "filter" feature before watching any movie. Example, if I don't want to see any nudity in a movie, I can go to the filters before starting the movie and filter nudity out. This is very easy to customize per movie, you can filter just about anything out of any particular movie. This past week I watched a movie that had 9 f-words, and an even higher count of G-D's in it. I filtered those out, and the movie was enjoyable when previously it was a movie that I would not have watched.

Some readers may not agree with this post and still say that it is wrong to watch these movies, and others may say that there was never anything wrong with watching movies like this in the first place. I know that for me personally in my walk with God, I want to be careful about what I am hearing and seeing. I have felt conviction in the past from certain movies and have made the decision to stay away. In no way am I pressuring others to do the same, I just know that has been right for my life and thought this post may help others that feel the same way.I hope this 'solution' helps some others out there! Thanks for reading.
