Releasing the Power of Vision in Your Life [Podcast]

In this episode of the Good Christian Podcast, Alex Sanfilippo interviews Joshua Delp on the topic of vision. More specifically, releasing the power of vision in your life. Quick disclaimer for all of our podcast listeners who like to listen on their drive. You're going to want to take notes! The conversation is profound yet very practical. Every aspiring 'good Christian' needs to hear this episode to greater understand how to release the power of vision in their lives!

#1. Why do we need a vision for our lives?

The direction the world is turning toward is causing us to live reactive lives instead of proactive. Much like the example of a sailboat, unless you know what your heading is, you're going to get pushed around by the waves and end up where you didn't intend to end up.

#2. What does God say about vision?

"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." - Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

#3. How have you a created vision in your life? (Creation)

You cannot talk about vision without also speaking about culture. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV), "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

"Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it." - Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV)

We often follow culture and create our own vision for our lives based on what culture tells us, not what God tells us. In order to succeed, we must disconnect from all of these voices that are telling us who we are. We have to get away from what the world is telling us what success is, and what life is about.

[easy-tweet tweet="The most effective way to create a vision for yourself is to work backwards. Start with where you want to end up, then create a path back to where you are right now." via="no" usehashtags="no"]

#4. How do you live a visionary life? (Application)

You have to be willing to go against the grain thought living out your identity in Christ. Society and the people around you will invite you to conform. You have to be rock solid on who you are and whom you are called to be. You will get tired, you will get discouraged, but you have to be willing to stand your ground. It would help if you would surround yourself with like-minded individuals. Surround yourself with people who have vision. Christian community is key to succeeding in your vision for your life.

Any final thoughts on the topic of vision?

There are Christians out there who do not rely on the Holy Spirit. Jesus died so we could have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. All vision comes from the Holy Spirit. Just as God created something from nothing by having the vision for the world and each of us within it, we are called to be the same. We can create a vision for ourselves through the Holy Spirit.Godly vision means seeing something that does not yet exist. Unfortunately, because we operate in the flesh, we often create a future that looks like hell more than it looks like the kingdom of God.

Be on the lookout for another episode on the first Monday of every month. Until then, always remember that releasing the power of vision in your life begins when you connect with God.
