#Roofies
So one of my good friends introduced me to a concept he came up with not too long ago. Im sure you have all heard about a SELFIE and the phenomenon they have become. Well his idea was similar but a little different. He took his phone and turned the camera around as if he was going to take a selfie, then put the phone on a table where the camera is looking at the ceiling. With nothing else in the picture other than the ceiling he would take the picture and call it a #Roofie.I want to use the post today to explain "Roofies" and how I relate them to God...yes you heard that right.
THREE FACTS ABOUT ROOFIES
Fact 1. #Roofies are ALWAYS Facing Upward.
- That's the whole point...to look up and see the ceiling (roof)
- If you keep your eyes UP, God will always tell you to go love on other people, especially those you don't know.
- Its very easy to get into the "selfie" mentality, where you act as an introvert and don't want to engage with anyone other than yourself or those that you are in your comfort zone. Even though Jesus did spend time with his disciples, He made sure that when there was a crowd around He either sent out the disciples to go to the people or He did it Himself.
- Its important to have those you can be close with, but God also calls us to go OUT!
Fact #1 Summary:
- Selfie Mentality = it's about you, you are always in the picture
- Roofie Mentality = it's all about Jesus.....who cares who's holding the phone
Matthew 28:19 - “Therefore GO and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”

Fact 2. #Roofies are Contagious
- Similar to a selfie....when someone sends you one, it makes you want to send one back from where you are. It never fails, that every time one of my friends sends me a roofie, it makes me want to send one back from where I am.
Have you ever walked by someone and seen them looking up? What's your immediate next action?
To look up! There may be nothing there, but everyone is curious at what that person is looking at.
When I think about things that are contagious in the church or Christianity as a whole, I think of Servant Leadership. If you see someone truly serving, but also leading at the same time, it makes you want to help. Or at least it does for me. We have all heard the phrase, lead by example. People are much more apt to serve alongside of you as opposed to serving because you told them to.
Fact #2 Summary:
- The entire New Testament is based around this concept, follow Christ, and live as Jesus did.
Fact 3. #Roofies are Unique
- There is no perfect way to take a #Roofie which means... there's no such thing as a bad roofie
- It's always going to look different than where you are, and the "roof" you are looking at.
- Even in the same room, the position and angle you are in will look different (even if just a little bit) than the person standing next to you.
Similar to a #Roofie, God not only made us all unique, but HE is unique to all of us. How I interact with, receive love from, and visualize God, is different than how every single other person on the planet does. We may be similar but no one does it exactly the same. For example, He is always going to be LOVE, and always going to be TRUTH, but God delivers those things differently to everyone.
Fact #3 Summary:
The beauty of what Jesus called us to do it not a specific function but an overall lifestyle that plays out different to everyone! There is no perfect way to follow Christ, the only wrong way to do it is to NOT do it.

New #1: Keep Your Eyes Facing Towards Jesus (Looking Upward)
New #2: Servant Leadership Is Contagious
New #3: We Are All UNIQUE (There's no perfect way to follow Christ)
