Teamwork Makes the Dream Work - Even in Church
I recently came across a number of $2 bills, 5 to be exact. If you remember to ask me its actually a pretty funny story but not one I will share during this post at least.I haven't had a $2 bill given to me for as long as I can remember. They are fairly rare in our normal day to day world, and it always makes you pause for a second every time you get one.Well I did the same thing when I received them, but nothing too long. When I got home that night I looked at it a little more since it had been a while and I even have one of them in front of me as I am writing.Trivia Question: What is on the back of a $2 bill?Anyone? ...... I'd be really surprised if you knew this answer.Answer: The scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.As I was looking at this something struck me about the scene. There were a lot of people in the room. In the image there are 42 that you can see, but it is obvious there were much more...56 individuals who signed it to be exact. They were from all walks of life with the youngest being 26 and the oldest being 70. But regardless of what they did for a living or how old they were, they gathered around this one common purpose, FREEDOM (no, William Wallace wasn't in the room).This got me thinking about my church. I am part of a ministry, sub30, that reaches out to young adults (many of who are the same age as the 26 year old Edward Rutledge who signed the Declaration). At the same time we have others in the church who are closer to Benjamin Franklin's mark of 70 years old. No doubt one of my favorite things about my church is the broad range of people that attend. It allows us to learn from each other and lean on the wisdom and experiences that exist from those around us.I am confident that Edward Rutledge didn't blindly sign the Declaration of Independence without first talking to Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock or some of the older statesmen in the room. It would have been foolish for him not to seek the advice of others who were literally right next to him in the room.Church is the same ay in many regards...

- Church should be like Heaven...diverse
- Church should have accessible wisdom, all you have to do is ask.
If you do not have a church home, I HIGHLY encourage you to find one. If you want my suggestion, or help in finding one, please don't hesitate to ask. If you want me to visit churches with you just ask. Ill do that too, even if its not my home church. Thats how important this is!Remember, one of the most powerful documents in the history of the world was written and signed because a group of people decided to come together despite the fear of death and make a difference in the lives of many people around them and for many years to come.Church is the same!
