Do your prayers sound more like, "My will be done" or "Thy will be done"?

It was a great shock to me yet again when God revealed how pervasive the longevity of my self-centeredness was. Sometimes in a moment, God can reveal a lifetime through a simple shift in perspective. One day, as I pondered why my prayers didn't seem to have any power nor produce much fruit, God showed me that all my prayers and intentions were that of a beggar or a spoiled child. "God give me this: give me that, in this way, at this time. I want, I want, I want. Me, me, me. Now, now, now.  Do my will, Almighty God."And I think if you do an honest self-inventory of the motivations of your prayers, it's no different.  Even when you pray for others, you might find that it's because it affects you in some way. And that they are halfhearted at best. Maybe that's just me.When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he said, "Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” If you don’t know the rest, definitely seek that answer out, but I just want to focus on the first half of the prayer. Because it focuses on the most important thing in life; The Source of Life itself, Our Father, The Eternal God of The Universe.

Early in the life of a believer, we know we are saved, and forever changed in the core of our soul.

Beyond that, it's all too much to comprehend. To the non-believer, this all sounds like gobbledygook. Saved from what; sin? Yes, but that’s not all. The greater issue is that we are saved from a life disconnected in our souls from the Source of all Life, God, our Father. But there is always more. As we awaken to the new reality of our Salvation, we awaken to the fact that not only are we saved, we are also invited into God’s plan for the transformation, the invasion of God’s Kingdom into this earth. We are invited into a life of adventure in the greatest Revolution the world has ever known.

Or are you praying that Almighty, Good and Loving Father would invade your life, your home, your place of vocation, and that His Kingdom would come, and His will be done in your heart and through your life.We have a vital role to play. Let us focus on getting everything we are in line His will being done, that His kingdom may come on earth as it is in Heaven, Amen.
