The Battle We All Fight

We all fight the battle between what is right and what is easy. Our daily lives are simply a series of choices between these two alternatives. So why are these choices so difficult to make? This is something I have been pondering for a long time. I found that I was asking the wrong questions. I was asking "What should I be doing? What’s next? What now? What…" Although these are not bad questions by themselves I found that there were better questions. As Andy Stanley says "The quality of our questions determines the quality of our answers." I had to start asking myself some better questions, some "Why" questions: Why was I made? Why do I want to leave a legacy for my family?

This led me to further examine Psalm 139:14 "I praise you, for I know I am fearfully and wonderfully made…" God made us different for a reason. God has a different "Why" for each of our lives. It is our job to discover his "Why", our calling. Discovering this and living our gives us a filter to sort our decisions through and gives us extreme focus and direction. This is where the wisdom to make the RIGHT decision comes from. It makes decisions that were very difficult, very easy.

All areas of our life seem to jive and thrive! St. Irenaeus said "The glory of God is man fully alive." Are you struggling with something? God wants us to be happy. He wants us to be kicking on all cylinders. We were made to serve a purpose, to do great work, to do great things, to impact our world. And the best part is: He's willing to tell you what impact he wants you to make; when you are willing to actually listen to him!

God is constantly speaking life and direction into us but we don't always want to listen. We want to give God our 5 minutes of quiet time and expect him to operate on our schedule and on our priority list. God will not speak to you in those 5 minutes if the rest of your day is filled with ignoring what he has to say. That’s not saying we can't make mistakes but we have to be in a certain place and be a certain person to be able to accept and believe what he has planned for our lives. Our vices drown out Gods timid voice. So if you find yourself without direction, lost, with a lot of wasted time ask yourself: Do I really know why I was made? Why God tediously formed my body and mind? Why was I made? (I'll give you a hint; it involves bettering people's lives in some way) When you find the answer write it down (Now! I'm not kidding!) Then review it every day, use it to guide you and to prosper you! This is the battle we all fight!
