Worship Breaks Down Walls

We have been going through an amazing time in our church recently where true revival has been breaking out. The power of the worship happening each week, and the walls it is breaking down in so many lives has been so much fun to be a part of. People are overcoming and breaking down walls that they believed to be impenetrable. These past weeks have reminded me how important and powerful worship is. Joshua found out the same thing...

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.” - Joshua 6:2-5

A friend of mine spoke a truth regarding this story at church and I had to share through writing it out. Simply put, he broke down the keys to success for Joshua and bringing down the walls of Jericho. So what are these keys to success? If we look at the plan put forth above, from God, then we can see what it takes…#1. Faith – God told Joshua that He had already delivered Jericho into his hands.  In order for Joshua to carry out this plan and convince his men to go through with this, he had to have faith that God would actually come through on His promise. The faith would provide confidence for Joshua to show leadership to his men to lead them into battle.

#2. Patience – God said to do the same thing for 6 days. God didn’t say go and Ill give it to you immediately. He did it in His own timing, which He normally does. We cant succumb to our human desires of needing everything immediately, the best victories come when we are patient and do things in Gods timing.#3. Obedience – As much as God can tell you to do something, you have to obey his commands and DO IT to actually receive the victory and blessing.#4. Worship – This was the piece that my friend pointed out and God spoke to me through. The key and climax of God’s plan is to have all of Joshua’s men give a loud shout (worship) after the trumpets sound and they have marched around the wall for 6 days.

Worship is what ultimately brought the walls of Jericho down.

You can walk around all you want but without worship and praising God, nothing will happen. You have to open your mouth and speak and scream with confidence that you know God will tear down those walls. I love that God didn’t ask them to say words quietly in prayer, he told them to give a “loud shout.” The shout should be loud enough for those on the other side of the wall to hear it!We all have walls in our lives that need to come down for us to truly take the victory and blessings that God has for us. We need to use the same plan that God gave to Joshua to accomplish this. Have faith, be patient, obey Gods plan, and worship in such a way that others will see you and hear you from the other side of the wall!  God will bring these walls down if you follow this plan.  Don’t be ashamed of the plan, or of God, be confident and give that “loud shout” that will ultimately tear down the walls that have been built a long time ago.
