A Christian's Perspective On The Presidential Election
Oh yes, the glorious day has come where we are finally going to talk about politics. A few ground rules - I will not endorse a candidate in this blog. Nor will I attempt to persuade any of my readers towards any one candidate; I will not even mention the candidates by name. I will also be as impartial as possible, and I will attempt to give you, my readers, a concise and logical breakdown of our roles in this presidential election.
Alright, let's do this thing!
How should a Christian approach this presidential election? The answer is that all Christians should approach this presidential election with a grave sense of importance. A lot is on the line during this election. The middle east is at war with itself, America is divided, and three supreme court justices will be up for grabs - the same justices that rule on our moral and ethical questions. The next president will set the course of America for decades to come.I often hear well-meaning people say "I'm not political - God is in control". I like that these people have God as their #1 priority, as He should be; However, we cannot use that as an excuse to be passive and inactive. In the bible, Jesus does not call people to do nothing - he calls us to be men and women of action. We must constantly be vigilant, and to stand up for what we believe in as Jesus did - in a firm, respectful manner. Christians in 1930's Germany did not follow their morals and values, and the state church at the time endorsed a young and influential leader - Adolf Hitler.
It is absolutely crucial that you vote in this presidential election.
When heading to the ballot boxes this November, there are a few issues that we must take very seriously. The first of which is no surprise - abortion. In our very own country, we are committing genocide which makes the holocaust look minuscule in comparison. Over the past few decades, this country has sanctioned abortions for 60 million children. To those that don't think presidential elections are important - in one fell swoop the supreme court struck down anti-abortion laws in 1973, mandating that abortions be legal nation wide. These justices are nominated by our president, and ratified by our congress.
Would Jesus vote? Here's the answer.
There are other important issues out there, I would encourage each and every one of you to do your own research. Freedom of religion, our welfare state, and the economy are all good starting points. I have attached a short guide that breaks down the stances that each candidate has taken on some of the most important issues. Thank you all for reading, and remember - please go vote this November!
