An Experience That Gave Me a Higher Perspective on Life

When recently traveling through the mountains I noticed two things that gave me a 'higher perspective' and completely wrecked my way of thinking. The first thing I noticed was, the higher we rose in elevation, the more we could see around us.The lower we were, the bigger every obstacle seemed. As we live our day-to-day lives, we must look to God to find that higher perspective that sees over the obstacles and sees past the mountains that we are facing. The second thing I noticed was, the lower we were, the more unclear our vision became.Staying in the smoky mountains, you can't see a thing past ten feet in front of you. To gain a clearer vision of what was right in front of us, we had to get to a higher place. To avoid being blindsided by the things that are right in front of us, we need to put ourselves in a place of higher perspective. The higher we are, the more clear things become and the smaller those mountains and obstacles seem.

"May you be able to feel and understand, as all God's children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is" - Ephesians 3:18

God is the highest power; He is the one who can see above all the obstacles, the mountains, and the things we can't see on our current level of living. When we seek God in the midst of our circumstances, we gain a higher perspective of our current situation.

We must seek a mountain top perspective to have peace in the midst of trials. If we are truly striving to see things the way Christ does, that does not exempt our own lives. We tend to get so focused on seeing others the way Christ does, that we often forget to view our personal lives through that same filter.Rising above our obstacles allows us to have power over the things that try to control us. Rising above and staying strong produces perseverance, the same perseverance that James 1 speaks of, which produces great faith and maturity.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." - James 1:2-4

The higher you are, the smaller the world seems.

Photos from planes and space prove this to be true. If we can grasp onto the concept of viewing everything through the same perspective and filter that Christ does, the one who is the highest of highs, our everyday issues, and major trials will become increasingly smaller and smaller, the higher we place ourselves. Not to live in a conceited mindset, however, a mindset that is confident in the power that is fighting with us and for us, the power of Christ!

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 8:38-39

Seek a higher perspective by standing on God's word and watch as your troubles become smaller and smaller.
