Motivation to finish strong.

Look at the progress you have made in a situation, not just what you have left to complete. Let that be your motivation to finish strong!

Recently I received a new project at my job. The project is estimated to take one year to complete. A couple of years ago, this would have majorly stressed me out! I used to look at projects as a whole, not just where I currently was in it. I would look at the entire project and realize how much I had to do. It was very discouraging.Over the past couple of years I have learned that instead of trying to look at a project as a whole, I need to break it up into sub-tasks and milestones. I have also learned that when it gets stressful that I need to stop what I am doing and take a minute to look behind me at how much I have accomplished and see how far I have come. I allow that to motivate me to get back on my feet, stop stressing and start moving forward again. Our life in Christ can often be similar to this. We get so caught up in all of the things that we still need to work on to be a "better Christian". We look at all of our short comings and all of the things we struggle with. We also look way down the road of our lives at the things we feel called to accomplish; which reminds us how far away we are from them.Instead of focusing so much on the things that you need to work on and how far away you are from your major life goals, take a minute to look back at how far you have come over the past few years. Where were you months or years back compared to where you are now in relation to your struggles and your major goals? Let that be your motivation to press on!Don't look at everything you still have left to complete in your life. Focus the small practical steps that are in front of you today that will bring you closer to where you want to be. And as for the shortcomings and struggles, take them one day at a time. Decide to be better today than you were yesterday. Be positive about where you are today and do what you can to get yourself one step closer to who, and where, you want to be tomorrow!
