Time: What are you doing with yours? (Life = 28,000 Days)
From the moment we are born, we all have a set amount of time to live our lives. While growing up, this topic is one that I really struggled with. (An odd struggle for such a young person!) I would get very stressed about how short life was and about how I needed to work harder to do more with my time. I realize now that stressing about it and being over productive are not the answers. However, I have always had a different perspective on 'time' than most people...People often have an idea in their heads that they can do things "later" and that they have plenty of time before they need to get serious in life. You are born into a society that tells you to go to school, go to work, plan for retirement while saying, "We all have plenty of time to do what we enjoy later." Most people have the mentality that time on their side. When in reality the clock starts counting down from the minute you are born. (The average American life is roughly 28,000 days.)I know what you are thinking by now... "Well this is depressing." Quick disclaimer: The goal of this post is not to leave you feeling depressed. My goal is to help bring a change of perspective to people's minds with how to better use the time they have been given! The truth is that most of us will live long lives. We honestly do have plenty of time to accomplish a countless number of tasks and things that we would want to do. The problem is because we have so long, we feel like we have forever, so we don't get serious. We look at our lives and we see so much potential time in front of us that we make it short because we waste so much on things that do not really matter because we think there is plenty of time to focus on the important things later.

[easy-tweet tweet="Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. - Psalm 90:12" via="no" usehashtags="no"]Let's say instead of 28000 days you only had 28000 minutes to live your life. (That is just under 20 days.) If you only had 20 days to live, what would you do with that time? What are some things that you have always wanted to do? Would you treat people differently? Really think about your answers to these questions. Be truthful with yourself; don't just answer in the way that society or even your friends and family would want you to.For me, I do my best to live as if every day could be my last. I often loose focus of this goal; it can be difficult when the world around you is telling you otherwise. However, the more I can focus on doing the things that bring joy to my life and loving people, the better of my time tomorrow will be.Today I encourage you to change your perspective of time. No matter how much you have left, live today as if it is all you have. Do your best to live for God. Remember to love others and enjoy your life!
